Gorakhpur not a picnic spot: Yogi attacks Rahul ahead of his UP visit

Gorakhpur, Aug 19 (PTI): Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath on Saturday hit out at Congress vice president Rahul Gandhi over his planned visit in Gorakhpur saying the "yuvraj (prince) sitting in Delhi" cannot be permitted to make Gorakhpur "a picnic spot".

The chief minister, who inaugurated a cleanliness campaign in the district to tackle the deadly encephalitis outbreak in the wake of death of 72 children at the BRD hospital in Gorakhpur, also targeted Samajwadi Party chief Akhilesh Yadav.

"I feel that the shehzada sitting in Lucknow ..yuvraj sitting in Delhi will not know the importance of this cleanliness campaign. They will come here to make it a picnic spot, we cannot permit it," he said, attacking Gandhi who is scheduled to meet the families of the victims and visit the BRD hospital on Saturday.

"If someone gives an open challenge to the self respect of the people of Gorakhpur and eastern UP ...they will themselves come forward to fight such dreaded diseases through their awareness," Adityanath stressed launching the 'Swachch Uttar Pradesh - Swasthya Uttar Pradesh campaign' in Gorakhpur.

Voicing hope that the campaign will be successful in checking encephalitis, he accused the previous governments of depriving the people of the state of basic facilities for their vested interests.

Stressing that more than treatment of encephalitis, checking its spread was important for which cleanliness and potable water were necessary, the chief minister said his government was working in this regard.

The chief minister, who has represented Gorakhpur in the Lok Sabha five times, will also tour encephalitis and flood-affected areas.

The Congress has targeted the Aditynath Government over the deaths following allegations that the children who were critically ill succumbed due to oxygen shortage.

Gorakhpur famous for Gorakhnath mutt is off course not an picnic spot but now very much resembling the 'Shamshan Ghat' of Varanasi.
Even after oxygen supplies are restored and Rahul Gandhi is yet reach deaths of nine more children were confirmed by Dr PK Singh from the Baba Raghav Das Medical College in the last 24 hours between Thursday and Friday, HT reported.
Around 105 children have died in the state-run Baba Raghav Das Medical College in Uttar Pradesh’s Gorakhpur, the parliamentary constituency of Chief Minister Yogi Adityanath, in the last five days.

Earlier in July, the UP government announced that the budget allotted for the 14 state-run medical colleges, of which BRD Medical College is one, has been reduced from Rs 2,344 crore in 2016-17 to Rs 11,48 crore in 2017-18.Out of this, the funds for BRDMC dropped from Rs Rs 15.9 crore in 2016-17 to Rs 7.8 crore in 2017-18.Particularly, the budgetary allocation for machinery and equipment was reduced from Rs 3 crore to Rs 75 lakh, reported TOI.

As an MP, Yogi Adityanath, raised the issue of children dying in Gorakhpur at least 20 times between the years of 2003 and 2014, The Indian Express reported.
For BJP 'kabristan-shamshan' may have brought unprecedented vote share to the party in recent assembly elections. But in reality now childrens who don't even have the right to vote are being kabristan-shamshan'.
Now it is the time CM Yogi Adityanath should answer the questions he asked as MP.

In any sane democracy, the death of over 60 children in a few days would have been a career-ending event. Not here.

Adityanath had zero administrative experience except for running his math and his band of vigilantes, the Hindu Yuva Vahini (HYV). He had twice turned down an offer from Modi to serve as a minister of state in his cabinet, choosing instead to lobby for his dream job: UP chief minister. He was, accordingly, was anointed chief minister by the Modi-Shah duo.

From the day he assumed office, Adityanath had some strange priorities. These included unleashing the bizarrely-titled “anti-Romeo squads” to ostensibly check sexual harassment (really a dog whistle nod to his favourite campaign theme “Love Jihad”), shutting down abattoirs to save the holy cow, which was criticised by the courts, and increasing funds for the Kailash yatra as a response to the Haj ‘subsidy’.

Just before the Gorakhpur tragedy erupted, the Adityanath government had declared that all madrassas in UP would be subject to video monitoring on Independence Day (August 15) for an unprecedented and rather ominous patriotism test.

The way Adityanath was pulled out of the hat of hard Hindutva and foisted on UP was a sleight of hand. Adityanath is still the same fire-breathing fringe leader of the HYV; the restraints of his job have not fettered him one bit. His agenda continues to be communal and inflammatory an agenda believed by Modi and Shah to be essential if the BJP is to ensure a repeat of 73 out of 80 seats that they got in 2014. So cows, mandirs, love jihad and Romeo squads will continue to be the only agenda for Adityanath’s administration. Minorities will be further pushed to the brink and the chronically awful administration of UP will continue.

Gorakhpur is what happens when a communal agenda is passed off as ‘Good Governance’. The reality is that, in the past body is burned in Varanasi's Shamshaan Ghat, now Gorakhpur hospitals replaced them.

Even being an elected representative for 20 years. he does not feel shame to say it is not a picnic spot, he turned it into a grave yard. Two days before the incident, he visited hospital, if it was not as a picnic and if he had peoples' concern, the children would be living today.

Yogi, yes, you are right Gorakpur is not picnic spot but you have made it now a Samshaan Ghat. You have celebrated birth of Lord Krishna Janma Ashtami with greater festivities and pompous over innocent little children's death which even Lord Krishna will regret seeing these little children. Yogi, RG is coming to you to blow your Pungi and people can feel your uneasiness. You can not stop him from visiting this Samshaan ghat that you have created and turn it into a historic memorial spot in memory of those little souls. Mirchi Lagi.

Yes, Yogi is right. Gorakhpur is not a picnic spot. After being a MP of gorakhpur for 5 terms he has made sure that Gorakhpur is not fit for visiting, forget about it being a picnic spot.

Mr. yogi u r the CM. It's not your job to roam on the streets with brooms, its good for camera but it just proves the incompetence of your administration.

Signs of getting rattled by the Congress leaders visit. The Chief Minister who is the sitting MP of Gorakpur for decades is now starting Swatch Gorakpur after this huge human tragedy. No news yet about accountability for this grave tragedy.
