Infant dies in Delhi hospital due to alleged failure in oxygen supply

New Delhi, Aug 19 (IANS): An infant died in a government hospital here due to alleged failure in oxygen supply, family members said on Saturday.

According to the family, the baby was born on Monday at the Rao Tula Ram Hospital. The infant's condition deteoriated all of a sudden due to breathing issues.

Immediately after doctors were called to provide oxygen, it was discovered that the baby had already died.

A complaint has been filed with the Delhi Police.

"Our baby had breathing issues. Doctors were called. But it was too late," the infant's father Brijesh Kumar Singh, said alleging that the hospital lacks oxygen cylinders.

However, the hospital has denied the allegation. It said the cause of death was breathing issues.

The body has been sent for post-mortem.

I had predicted this in one of my comments on the Gorakhpur tragedy issue that to get back at the opposition anything can 'happen'. Ethics and morality have no place in politics and politicians in power will abuse power to attain their political goals . Really, really sad and pained for the loss of an innocent life and if it is proved it is for revenge then even more sad.

UP it's different story. UP government didn't pay dues of oxygen supply companies . BJP had to pay money to buy MLA's but no money to pay for oxygen. Thats the difference between BJP and AAP.

It doesnt matter which party is in center or in state we mustn't let this thing happen at any cost .

My Request to all people that every hospital must have a back up system and it must be checked every day and there must be a random inspection from health dept to hospital's if they fail they must pay heavy penalty which must be multiplies with the beds occupied in the ward by 5 lack each.

I swear then non of the hospital will neglect this critical life saving system.

And the contractor who supply the oxygen must give a prior 1 month notice to Local police and at the same time it must be published in news paper about stopping oxygen supply in the case of non payment .

we just can't sit quiet when a new born child die or any one because we healthy people did took care the needy one.

Lets not play politics over infants' death now. Enough has been said and not much has been done in the last few days. It is sad that these incidents take place in the 21st century, in our 'new India'
