Mangaluru, Aug 13: Kadri police in city on Saturday, August 13 arrested a person for cheating a 46-year-old woman Jacintha Mendonca with fake promise of providing employment in Doha Qatar and sending her to Saudi Arabia.
James D’Mello (35), from Kulshekar, is the person arrested.
Jacintha Mendonca from Mudarangady was offered employment as a house nurse in Qatar for Rs 25,000 a month, but sold to slavery to an employer in Saudi Arabia last year.

James D’Mello had sent Jacintha to Mumbai from where she was sent by agent Shaba Khan to Saudi Arabia. Shaba Khan had reportedly taken Rs 5 lac from the Saudi employer. Shaba Khan had paid Rs 25,000 to James D’Mello out of that.
Jacintha is still stranded in Saudi Arabia. Ministry of external affairs is trying to bring her back home soon.
Shaba Khan will be arrested soon, said police sources.
Kadri police inspector Maruti Naik and other police personnel participated in the arrest of James D’Mello.
James D’Mello is an agent and he was the first person to cheat Jacintha with the fake promise.
