Mangaluru: Murder attempt on ASI - two accused arrested

Mangaluru, Jul 23: In connection with the murder attempt on assistant sub-inspector (ASI) of police Purandara Gowda, and head constable Sathish, who had visited Casba Bengre village here to search for some accused, two accused stand arrested.

Main accused, Harris alias Chandu Harris (26) and Mohiuddin Adil (20) were arrested by Panambur police circle inspector, Rafique and staff in an operation led by assistant commissioner of police of city north subdivision and Bajpe police. A car that was used in the murder attempt and seven two-wheelers which were stolen by the accused, were confiscated.

When the police referred above were involved with inspection of vehicles and people passing through near Kudremukh Iron Ore company office at Panambur on Friday July 21 night, the accused who were seated in a motor bike and moving towards Suratkal, picked up speed and attempted to flee. The police arrested them. The accused Harris faces seven cases in Bantwal, city north, south and Suratkal police stations. Ganja worth Rs 25,000 was also confiscated from the possessions of the accused.

The two accused reportedly face over 20 cases in different police stations out of which they have been acquitted in seven cases, one is under investigation, they were sentenced in one, while the other 11 are in hearing stage. Non-bailable warrant had been issued as they had absented from hearings after securing bail.
