Bengaluru, Jul 9: It was revealed on Saturday, July 8 that chief minister Siddaramaiah’s son Dr Yathindra joined the Congress party officially. This effectively puts a brake to the speculations about him joining politics.
Yathindra had taken the membership of party two months ago, but he was not given any position in the party so far, as per Mysuru district Youth Congress president B J Vijayakumar. The news was kept a secret till now deliberately.
Now Yathindra has registered himself as a resident of Varuna Assembly constituency in Mysuru which is represented by Siddaramaiah currently as MLA.
Yathindra’s present move adds credence to speculation that he may take a plunge into electoral politics in the next Assembly elections. His choice of constituency is Varuna as his father has decided to contest from Chamundeshwari constituency.
Yathindra has been nurturing Varuna constituency for the past one year on behalf of his father. Every time he visited the constituency to listen to the woes of people, it was interpreted as he joined politics. But he never confirmed this, nor did his father.
The state government recently nominated Yathindra as chairman of the vigilance committee of Varuna constituency to monitor implementation of various housing projects.
With all these moves, Dr Yathindra is a man to watch in the days to come.
