Bengaluru, May 28: A cinema director and two directors have been arrested with others for abducting and torturing a film promoter. The arrested persons say they did so to take revenge for not promoting a film properly.
‘Eradu Kanasu’ director and producer Madan, assistant director Chalapathi, friends Kiran and Moorthy Mohan are the arrested persons.
The arrested persons abducted Paramesh, the owner of Akshay Advertisers from his Basaveshwara Nagara and kept him under captivity for three days. During this time he was tortured by the culprits.

‘Eradu Kanasu’ film starring Vijaya Raghavendra was released recently and did not fare well in box office. Madan was unhappy with this. He believed that Paramesh did not spend Rs 16 lac properly which was given to his firm Akshay Advertisers and this resulted in the film making losses. Then he conspired to take revenge against Paramesh and recover money from him. Later he abducted Paramesh with the help of friends.
They phoned Paramesh’s father after abduction and demanded at least Rs 8 lacs back. It was agreed initially to pay them Rs 3 lacs. But later when Madan did not agree, he was tortured. Paramesh’s father complained to police regarding the matter. Police found out the whereabouts of the victim and culprits and reached there.
The abduction earlier was done within minutes with high speed. One of the culprits Chalapathi is directing a film called ‘Vega’ meaning speed. He phoned Paramesh and said he wants to discuss about the promotion of the film and called him to Pushpanjali theatre at Basaveshwara Nagara. When Paramesh reached there, he was abducted.
Police, after registering the complaint from Paramesh’s father, were trying to locate the victim and culprits. The culprits kept changing the venue where the money could be delivered fearing the police. But the police kept track of the mobile tower near from where they spoke.
Filmy culprits abducted the film prompter in filmy style and were also caught in filmy style.
