Mangaluru: Fr Richard Coelho takes charges as director of Father Muller Institutions

Mangaluru, May 22: Fr Richard Coelho on Monday May 22 took charge as the director of Father Muller Institutions in a ceremony presided over by vicar general of Mangaluru diocese Msgr Denis Moras Prabhu at Father Muller chapel here.

On the same occasion, Fr Rudolph took charge as administrator of Father Muller Hospital and Fr Ajith Menezes as administrator of Father Muller Medical College.

The post of director was vacant after the demise of former director Fr Patrick Rodrigues. Though Fr Coelho was given the responsibility of in-charge director after Fr Patrick's demise, he has now been officially officially given the charge of Father Muller Charitable Institutions.

Fr Richard Coelho took oath of promise to serve with utmost deligence and responsibility.

Addressing the gathering, Fr Coelho said, "I am grateful to bishop of Mangaluru Fr Aloysius Paul D'Souza for assigning me this responsibility and placing trust on me. With the blessing and guidance of the bishop, I will do my best. I need everyone's prayers. I am grateful to my family, staff and administrators of Father Muller Charitable Institutions."

Vicar general of Mangaluru diocese Fr Denis Moras Prabhu said, "Fr Richard Coelho has served Father Muller Institution with great dedication and committment, and we are pleased to appoint him as director of Father Muller Charitable Institutions. He is well aware of the aims and objectives, and we are confident that he will strive to acheive FMCI's goals. Fr Coelho is blessed with many talents, and his dedication and committment to his duties is one among them. Now this will be an added responsibility."

Administrator Fr Roshan Crasta, Fr J B Crasta, Fr Richard Coelho's mother Mary Philomena Coelho and others were present.

Fr Coelho has served as administrator of Father Muller College Hospital in the past. 55-year-old Fr Richard Coelho hails from Karkala. After completing his SSLC at Karkala St Lawrence High School, he continued his PUC and graduation at St Aloysius College, Mangaluru. He then obtained PG diploma in business administration from St Aloysius Evening College of Business Management.

Fr Coelho joined the seminary in 1977 and was ordained priest in 1988. He has served for more than 29 years in various parishes as assistant and parish priest including Vittal, Mandanthyar, Nainad, Bajjodi, Udyavar, and Shirva.

He served as assistant director of Father Muller Hospital for four years during 1989-93.

Fr Rudolph D'Sa has served Father Muller Hospital in various capacities for the past eight years.
Ordained priest in the year 2004, Fr Rudolph holds a bachelor's degree in theology (BTh) and also a masters in hospital administratin (MHA).

Prior to joining Father Muller in 2008, Fr Rudolph Dsa served as assistant parish priest in Bendore and Beltangady parishes. Fr Rudolph has experience of serving as administrator of Father Muller Charitable Institute (FMCI), co-ordinator of MHA course at Father Muller, administrator of Father Muller Hospital, Thumbay, and administrator of FMMC.

Fr Ajith Menezes from Modankap, Bantwal, was serving as assistant administrator, Father Muller Medical College Hospital until now. A diploma holder in civil engineering and an MBA, Fr Menezes studied at St Joseph Inter-diocesan Seminary, and was ordained priest in 2008.

He has also served as assistant parish priest in Bejai and Permannur churches, and as assistant administrator and director in-charge of St Joseph Engineering College, Vamanjoor.
