Oman: Mangalore United beat Shamal Plastic-MFS to win Sohar Premier League 2017

Oman, May 9: Mangalore United beat Shamal Plastic-MFS comprehensively by 24 runs to lift Sohar Premier League 2017 held at Sohar on May 5.

Batting first Mangalore United scored 85 runs for the loss of three wickets in six overs. Chasing a mammoth target of 85, Shamal Plastic-MFS lost their way during the chase and ended up scoring 60 runs. The exceptional team work of Mangalore United players and some brilliant individual batting and bowling performances helped them to clinch the title.

"We are very proud of our boys, as their hardwork and effort put into the game has finally paid off. They possess great team spirit and will
definitely bring us more glory," said team manager Anil D'Souza speaking about their performance.







Captain and icon player of Mangalore United Ashok Mathias won the 'Man of the Match' in the semi-finals and finals and was awarded the 'Best Batsman' award of the tournament along with orange cap for most runs. Rana of team L&T was honoured with the 'Best Bowler' award and Sameer of Shamal Plastics-MFS bagged the 'Player of the Tournament' award.

Chennai Sohar Kings Crystal won the Fair Play award. Players of all the teams included players from multiple nationalities and the matches recieved good response from the audience.
