Puttur: Man arrested for assaulting police constable on duty

Puttur, May 6: Police here have arrested a person for the offence of assaulting a police constable during his duty. The incident had taken place on Thursday May 4 and the arrest was made a day after on Friday.

Naman Nayak from Narimogaru is the person arrested. Harish P is the constable who was assaulted.

 

 

As per details of the case, Harish P had gone to serve a notice to Naman Nayak to appear at Puttur Town police station regarding a complaint lodged against him. The complainant was Jayakumar Nair from J K Supermarket who had alleged that Naman Nayak had threatened and used abusive words against him relating to a financial matter. When Harish was serving the notice, Naman Nayak hit him with his hands which was an obstruction of duty.

Puttur Town police who received the complaint from Harish managed to apprehend Naman on Friday, May 5 and produced him in court. He has been remanded to 12 days of judicial custody.
