Mangaluru: 38-year-old killed after car veers off road, rams into tree

Mangaluru, May 5: A man was killed on the spot after his Maruti Swift car went out of control and plunged into a roadside pit and hit a tree. The accident happened near Boliyar Padil within Konaje police station limits in the early hours of Friday May 5.

The deceased has been identified as Yousuf (38), son of Abubakker, resident of Kadambaru Idi in Manjeshwar.

Khaleel, who was also in the car at the time of the accident, suffered serious injuries. He is being treated in a hospital in the city.

Yousuf and Khaleel had attended a marriage ceremony at Sakleshpur on Thursday. They had begun their return journey after the programme to go back to their homes at Manjeshwar. When the car was nearing Padil, Yousuf suddenly lost control over the vehicle, after which it jumped into a pit and came to stop after hitting a tree.

The deceased was operating a business at Manjeshwar. He is survived by wife and three children.

Konaje police have registered a case.
