Bengaluru: Siddu regime completes 4 years on May 13, but low-key affair

Bengaluru, Apr 28: The Congress government in Karnataka under the Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will complete four years and enter its fifth and final year of its term on May 13. But instead of any gala celebrations, the event will be a low-key affair.

The crippling drought in 160 out of the 176 taluks in the State and the sufferings of farmers, people and cattle due to drinking water has forced the State Government to be very cautious in the approach.

However, the occasion would be celebrated by organising a convention in Chitradurga in a meaningful way to showcase in a big way the various welfare schemes launched by his government.

"We are not organising any conventions to boast of our achievements as it is not appropriate to splurge on such shows when the state is reeling under severe drought situation gripping the State," said Social Welfare Minister H Anjaneya.

However a convention at Bengaluru Division level, which covers nine districts, would be held in Chitradurga on May 13 where various benefits like farm equipments for farmers, laptops for students, old age pension for senior citizens would be distributed.

The benefits would cover all the departments, Anjaneya said here on Friday.

The convention would aptly project the commitment of Siddaramaiah government for the welfare of the weaker sections and delivering social justice, he said.

The Social Welfare department is set to start 270 new residential schools in the coming academic year 2017-18, which includes 125 Ambedkar Residential Schools and 100 Indira Gandhi Residential Schools, he added.

Under Siddu led INC, Karnataka is rated among the top states in the country. We are the largest job creator with a national share of 24 percent. Despite tough situation we have successfully handled drought, attracted maximum FDI, improved infrastructure, law & order has improved significantly,.

In the meanwhile don't forget the numerous scams, scandals and instances of moral policing related violence that occurred during your party's tenure.

The 2018 Karnataka State Assembly Elections clock has started ticking. Countdown has already begun.

The message to the ruling party is, "Never take the electorate, who voted for you, who gave you tremendous opportunities, name & fame, for granted". Learn from your mistakes and clean up your act. Make up for all the lost opportunities & broken promises of the previous 4 years.

The Voter is King. No one can mess around with their aspirations/feelings/expectations/rights/with the wealth of the state. No 'second chance' can be taken for granted. Act fast and act now. Keep waiting for 2018, and you may 'miss the bus'.
