Sharjah: Thumbay Group’s healthcare division opens second multispecialty ‘Day Care Hospital’

Sharjah, Apr 17: Thumbay Hospital Day Care is now open at University City Road in addition to Rolla, where the first day care facility was launched.

The healthcare division of Thumbay Group has opened a new multispecialty day care hospital, Thumbay Hospital Day Care, as the latest addition to its network of teaching hospitals. Located at University City Road, the new hospital will offer treatments and procedures as day-cases, meaning no overnight stay at the hospital is required, and patients can rest and recuperate in their own homes.

The group had opened its first day care hospital at Rolla in January 2017.

The new hospital was inaugurated on Sunday April 16 by Dr Amin Hussein Al Amiri - assistant undersecretary for MOH Policy & Licenses, Ministry of Health, Dubai, in the presence of Thumbay Moideen - founder president, Thumbay Group, Akbar Moideen Thumbay – vice president of the healthcare division, Akram Moideen Thumbay - director operations of the Construction & Renovation Division and director – Thumbay Technologies, as well as other members of Thumbay Group Board.



Thumbay Hospital Day Care is a state-of-the-art multispecialty facility envisioned as a center housing all major specialties under one roof. Fully-equipped laboratory, advanced radiology services with ultrasound and x-ray facility and trained personnel to ensure optimum patient safety and satisfaction are some of the highlights of the hospital. The hospital uses the latest healthcare technology, which combined with excellent post-operative care and effective pain relief enable patients to recover in just a few hours. This also ensures minimal risk of hospital infections. The hospital has a dedicated Anesthesia team as well as operation theatre, and private patient beds for pre-op and post-op care. Specialties available at the hospital include Gynecology, Internal Medicine, Pediatrics, General Surgery, Cardiology, Orthopedics, Ophthalmology, ENT, Gastroenterology, Chest Medicine, Urology, Dental services and Dermatology, complete with ambulance services and dedicated insurance and administrative back-up.

Akbar Moideen Thumbay, vice president of the healthcare division of Thumbay Group said that the concept of day care hospitals was catching up fast, in the country. Multiple factors have contributed to this transition including improved anesthetic and surgical techniques, and enhanced pain management system. The chance of faster recovery from the disease, shorter hospital stay, affordable costs of medical care, quick recovery with zero risk of infection and the possibility of going home the same day are some attractions.

Speaking about the expanding network of Thumbay academic hospitals worldwide, Thumbay Moideen, founder president of Thumbay Group said that the new hospital was the latest addition to the Thumbay Hospital network. “The Thumbay academic hospital network aims to have a total of 1000 beds in the UAE, 1500 beds in India and 750 beds elsewhere in the Gulf and Africa by 2022. The group will have 15 academic hospitals worldwide by then,” he said.
