Karkala, Apr 3: A persons met a tragic death in a head-on collision between a car and a goods truck at Panchanabettu cross here on Monday April 3.
The deceased has been identified as Dinesh Achary (38), a resident of Manchi, Kukkikatte.
Dinesh was a carpentar by profession.
It is said that on Sunday April 2, Dinesh had been to Karkala for some carpentary work. As it was late, he stayed the night there and started his homeward journey on Monday by Maruti 800 car.
When he reached Panchanabettu cross, a good truck approaching from the opposite side rammed head-on into his car.
The impact was such that the car was completely mangled, and locals who rushed to the spot had to put in efforts for at least 15 minutes to pull Dinesh out. He was found to have died on the spot.
Dinesh leaves behind his wife and a three-and-a-half-year-old daughter.
Local police have registered a case.
