Mangaluru, Apr 3: Marking 50 years of providing pioneering service to Mangalureans, especially for special occasions like christenings, Christmas and weddings, the well-known retail store Jerosa Company, inaugurated its second outlet at Milagres College Building, Hampankatta here on Monday, April 3.
Owner Ullas Rasquinha's mother Rozy Rasquinha and uncle Joe Pinto inaugurated the sections by cutting the ribbon.
Fr Denis Rasquinha blessed the shops by sprinkling holy water. Fr Maxim invoked God's blessings. Parish priest of Milagres Church Fr Valerian D'Souza and parish priest of Angelore church Fr Matthew Vas, participated in the prayers.
Speaking on the occasion, Ullas Rasquinha said, "Completing 50 years of business, we are proud to open our new outlet for customers. I am grateful to Fr Valerian for providing us the space for our new venture. I am thankful to all the priests and well-wishers present here. A special thanks to Joe Pinto for helping us manage this business."
The new outlet will be exclusively dedicated for christenings, first holy communions, and wedding requisites. Clothes likes gowns and suits required for various occasions, accessories to dress up infants, children, brides and grooms, and all kids of decorations will be available in the new store. Jerosa Company is the only retail store in the city to get all the requisites for christenings, first holy communions, and weddings under one roof.
Journey of 50 Years
The history of the the company dates back to 1932, when Simon & Co manufactured statues and sold religious articles. The manufacturing of statues continued under the name Simon & Co, while the retail sale of religious articles began separately under the name Jerosa Company in 1967.
"We were the first ones to have retail sale of accessories for christenings, first holy communions and weddings in Mangaluru. Over the years, we have added products. Ready-made gowns were never available here. We started the trend in the city," says owner Ullas Rasquinha.
"The variety we offer here has led us to success. Any function at a Catholic family's house, and you can find her all that you need. You name it and we have it. There are shops in the city which offer products, but when you need everything at a single place, Jerosa Company is the answer. We have dedicated customers from Udupi, Kundapur, Karwar and as far as Kannur in Kerala," he adds.
