Bhatkal, Mar 13: "Service-oriented mindset is the most important trait of a person who wants to enter social service sector. Working only during elections is not the right attitude. For our nation to progress and prosper, Congress party has to grow stronger," said Uttara Kannada district in-charge minister, R V Deshpande.

Deshpande was speaking after inaugurating Uttara Kannada district Congress women's convention held on Saturday March 11 at RNS auditorium, Murudeshwar. "Becoming chief minister or prime minister should not be one's most important goal in life. The secular fabric of the society needs to be strengthened. Congress is a party that has earned the trust of people from all castes and religions. One can remain longer in politics if he stays and grows among people," he stated.

The minister accused BJP of trying to hoodwink people through aggressive publicity backed by scores of lies. He lamented the fact that various people-centric programmes implemented by the Congress government in the state are not getting enough publicity. He urged the party workers to see that the schemes of the government are explained to each household. "Our party has given importance to women's empowerment. For this, we have undertaken programmes like 'Stree Shakti'," he said. Speaking about Kasturirangan report, he explained that the government is not against conservation of forests and Western Ghats. At the same time, he said that interests of human beings cannot be sacrificed, and therefore, the state will place its strong stand on this issue before the union government. He called upon leaders and activists of the party to fight for their rights.

All India Congress Committee member,Vishnu Prasad, blamed the central government for causing hike in prices of petrol, diesel, LPG etc through its faulty policies. MLA, Mankalu Vaidya, accused BJP leaders of dismissing road, bridge and other works as not part of development initiatives. "For BJP, plundering of wealth is progress. There has been lot of progress in Bhatkal and Honnavar constituencies in the form of roads, bridges etc. As several buses are operating between Bhatkal and Honnavar, people are happy and students are not protesting on this issue now," he stated. He also blamed BJP of speaking about the country and culture and actually doing nothing about them.

Kumta MLA, Sharada Mohan Shetty, Karwar MLA, Satish Sail, district Congress president, Bheemanna Naik, president of Karnataka State Fisheries Development Corporation, Rajendra Naik, Congress in-charge, Shyamala Bhandary, district Congress women's unit president, Tara Gowda, other leaders like Sai Gaonkar, zilla panchayat member, Pushpa Naik, Vanita Naik, and several others were present.

Zilla panchayat president, Jayashree Mogera, welcomed. Congress district resident,Bheemanna Naik, delivered introductory address.

On this occasion, several people joined Congress.

First of all you congressmen should forget all the differences, bury the ego and arrogance and come together on a common platform with a vigour otherwise BJP is using the divided congressmen and your house to get back to power.

All the parties are having more corrupt politicians.... i.e. Crorepati count rises in UP assembly; 1/4th MLAs face serious criminal cases. Instead of Congress, BJP, SP,Akali,BSP,RJD etc. you better start CCP (Crorepati, Criminal Party) The party will prosper and India may also proper.

The Muslum voters of UP have shown that inly development plank will win votes henceforth. Your divide and rule and appeasing at the cost of others will not work. Your Raul Baba has not been groomed well by his right hands. Banish him to ground level Panchayat politics for some years. Let him toil single handedly and win there. Then he will know the difference between reality and palace.

For Congress to flourish only two things need to happen
    1. Kick out the dynasty
    2. Kicky out the useless ppl

If you can't do this, Congress is bound to lose whatever it has

    Congress has to learn the following ;

1 - Stop vote bank politics and appeasement of Minorities ( has been happening from ages yet no result)
2 - Have a better leader (jokers are aplenty)
3 - Don't blow things out of proposition, be a smart opposition than a foolish one
4 - Work for the social good and make sure that there is zero scam (making money is not the only goal)

    Mr Deshpande ,
Amit Shah will come or send his assistant to Karnataka
They will ask all congress MLA's and senior workers politely to join BJP or support them if they dont
IT raids /CBI raids will happen and still they dont listen some false allegations will be made and still they don't listen a huge amount and plum post will be offered.
So by next year there will be crores spent to poach MLA's they have already started this excercise.
Then each MLA's will be given crores to contest and fight the elections along with crores for the mega rallies by PM ..
so the battle will be BJP's 5000 crores versus 500 crores !!!

..they are Democratically elected, why cant you just digest that!!..How come if Congress wins its win of Democracy & BJP wins its not..same UP voters last time elected SP, then he was secular, now they elected BJP then how come same voter communal!..Do you have any idea how many Christian BJP candidates won GOA elections, are they communal!! there is no Hindu,Mulsim, Christian vote, vote is a vote..He votes based on his preference..But remember, Minorities vote in a cluster in a pattern, actually this is not in the interest of the Democracy and for the community since political parties can go to any extent to brain washcommunity..

Congress cannot flourish since 3M is missing - Money , Muscle and govt machinery .

Congress has a very good base across Pan India it just needs a right leader and Capt Amarinder Singh or someone like him can resurrect them very easily and this has happened in Punjab and in Goa even without a popular face they still won a decent mandate and same in Manipur and yes many states BCP won - Bharatiya congress party with majority of the winners are ex congressmen
