Mangaluru: Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing celebrates graduation, annual day

Mangaluru, Mar 10: The graduation day and annual day celebrations for the post-graduates, graduates and diploma holders of Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing was held on March 9 at AJIMS Auditorium, Kuntikana, Mangaluru.

The ceremony began with an academic procession with the graduates walking towards the stage elegantly garbed in their robes and tassels along with the esteemed dignitaries, principal and professors of college of nursing.

The programme commenced with an invocation dance, followed by a heart welcoming speech delivered by Prof Shivakumara J, department of mental health nursing. The august dignitaries on the dais lighted the ceremonial lamp. Dr Larissa Martha Sams, principal outlined the annual report. Guest of the day Dr Sr Celcy Mary, principal, St John’s College of Nursing, Bengaluru conferred the candidates with medals and certificates and enlightened the graduates that they are the true ambassadors of this instituition to alleviate suffering, inspire and innovate their service through integrity, compassion and loyality.

Sandhya D Almeida, HOD, department of OBG nursing recited the Florence Nightingale pledge and the students recapitulated it, committing themselves to the noble profession. Prashanth Shetty, vice-president, Laxmi Memorial College of Nursing awarded the graduates with mementos and class toppers with the prizes and delivered the presidential address and highlighted the graduates to be polite, humble and contribute selflessly to the society.

Dr Theresa Leonilda Mendonca, vice-principal, LMCN, proposed the vote of thanks. The entire programme was compered by Raina Menezes and Cleeta Rodrigues.

Students performed magnificently in the various cultural programmes. Around 118 graduates, guests and other invitees brought a grand atmosphere to the programme.
