Mangaluru, Mar 9: This April 2 will be the 75th Birth Anniversary day of Konkan Kogull Late Wilfy Rebimbus. It is seven years since he passed away, that was on 9th March 2010. The Konkani people all over the world had mourned the untimely demise of their beloved Wilfy, who had given them thousands of unforgettable songs and music for every occasion, sentimental, meaningful, nostalgic, humorous and divine. His songs gave new life to Konkani. All in all, his songs gave a new meaning to life.

Though he is not with us physically, his family have felt his nearness all the time. He is there with them in spirit, guiding them while they try to walk in his footsteps, performing, singing his songs, entertaining, spreading happiness, love and peace through Wilfy’s immortal songs whenever and wherever possible. People too have continued with their support, attending ‘Wilfy Nites’ in thousands, in India and abroad, showering the Rebimbus family and the performers with their blessings and appreciation.

Almost every year after the legend’s demise, ‘Wilfy Dees’ with different concepts like ‘Naman Tuka Avoipona’, ‘Mahima Devachim’ ‘Jomya Gayan Fest’ was presented by Wilfy Rebimbus Fans during March -April to the appreciation of numerous fans.

Now on the occasion of his 75th Birthday on April 2nd, the Rebimbus family, under the banner of United Youngsters, Mangaluru, with the support of many senior and as well as new singers and musicians, will be presenting a special evening to celebrate the life of Wilfy through his own songs.

Many people including scholars have written specially after his death, about Wilfy’s songs as to how his songs with immaculate lyrics have given new meaning to Human Life.

Wilfy made songs his life, a life full of struggle, grit, fulfilment and triumph. On this musical evening, aptly named ‘Geet Jaalem Jivit’ the story of Wilfy’s life will be told with his own songs.

Keeping in mind the holy season of lent, a part of the evening will be of songs composed by Wilfy, glorifying God and human life.

The event will be held in Mangaluru Town Hall, on Sunday April 2 at 5.30 pm sharp and will end by 9 pm. The entry is free.

Organisers have requested all the Wilfy fans and well wishers to come and be there before time.
