Panaji, Feb 10: Sri Vidyadhirajateertha Sripad Vadera Swamiji adopted Uday Bhat Sharma, second son of Laxminarayana Bhat from Belagavi, as his Shishya (disciple) on Thursday February 9. The disciple, who has been christened as Sri Vidyadheeshateertha Sripad Vadera Swamiji, will be next in line to succeed Sri Vidyadhirajateertha as spiritual head of the Math.

Sri Vidyadhirajateertha ordained his disciple into the realm of the Math that has inherited rich traditions and follows sacred principles. Religious procedures relating to the programme began at 4 am at the Math headquarters ar Parthagali Jeevotham Math near Kanakona, Goa on Thursday. The newly ordained disciple went through procedures that will make it mandatory for him to practice celibacy, shun relationships including with his parents and embrace asceticism where performing Puja to the deities, studying religious scriptures and guiding the followers will be the main duties henceforth.

In his benedictory address on the occasion, Sri Vidyadhirajateertha Swamiji said that he has ordained his Shishya on the very day on which Sri Jeevothamateertha Swamiji was initiated into the Math. He wished that the newly adopted disciple will attain great spiritual heights like Sri Jeevothama. Noting that the GSB community which follows the Math has contributed immensely to the financial growth of the country, he advised the community members to be thoughtful in their actions.
