Dimitrov beats Istomin to reach Australian Open quarters


Melbourne, Jan 23 (IANS): Bulgarian tennis player Grigor Dimitrov defeated Uzbek Denis Istomin 2-6, 7-6 (2), 6-2, 6-1 here on Monday to reach the quarter-finals of the Australian Open for the second time.

Dimitrov will face in the quarterfinals Belgian David Goffin, who won 5-7, 7-4 (4), 6-2, 6-2 over Australian Dominic Thiem also on Monday, reports Efe.

Istomin, the man who knocked out Serbian Novak Djokovic in the tournament's second round, was affected by leg issues for much of the match, and in the last game was noticeably limping.
