Mumbai: Mumbai University Kannada department organizes literary evening

Mumbai, Jan 23: The Kannada department of Mumbai university, held a Literary evening and distributed certificates to students of Kannada at Ranade Bhavan, Kalina campus, Santacruz east on Saturday evening, January 21.

Dr G N Upadya, head of the department of Kannada presided over the programme. Surendra Kumar Hegde, president of Kannada Kalavidara Parishat, Maharashtra was present as chief guest. Nearly forty five students of Kannada were presented certificates on the occasion. Kannada learning center teachers Sripada Pataki, Dr Uma Rao, Shamala Prakash, Shailaja Hegade, Geetha R S, K Anitha, Rama Udupa, Dr Poornima S Shetty were felicitated.

Hasta Shetty and Swaroop Kammat who stood first, Deeksha Baichapur and Pooja Nadig who stood second and Prajna Shetty who stood third in the certificate examinations were presented prizes and honored.

S N Udupa Jerimeri, Dr G V Kulkarni, Sugantha Satyamoorthi, R M Ganachari, Pravini Salian, Sushila S Devadiga and others were present. Mumbai University Kannada department assistant professor Dr Poornima Sudhakar Shetty introduced the guests and compered the programme. Elooru Madhusoodhan Rao proposed the vote of thanks.
