CM to inaugurate Brahmashree Narayana Guru Study chair in Mangalore Varsity

Mangaluru, Jan 17: Chief Minister Siddaramaiah will inaugurate Brahmashree Narayana Guru Study Chair on January 19 at Mangala Auditorium, Mangalagangothri at 2 pm.

The Government of Karnataka has already given the approval for Rs two crores for the chair. The chief minister will also inaugurate new building of Applied Botany department.

Karnataka Higher Education minister Basavaraj Rayareddy will inaugurate the state of art hi-tech Modular laboratories of international standard. 

Minister for forest, environment and ecology B Ramanatha Rai will felicitate university sportspersons who have set records in sports for 2016-17. 

Minister for food, civil supplies and consumer affairs UT Khader will launch University Research Fellowship to researcher scholars who are not getting any fellowship. 

Former minister and legislator of Kaup constituency Vinay Kumar Sorake will release book on Brahmashree Narayana Guru on the occasion.

Noted Kannada litterateur Prof Baraguru Ramachandrappa, and former vice-chancellor of Kannada University, Hampi and Karnataka State Open University Prof BA Viveka Rai will release 19 books including three English books. 

The Prasaranga has a target of publishing 25 books to commemorate the silver jubilee year of Prasaranga. It has already published six books last year. The authors of books will also be felicitated on the occasion. 

Vice-chancellor of Mangalore University Prof K Byrappa will preside over the programme. 

Mangalore University Prasaranga has arranged display and sale of books. Sri Devi Kaladka and team will perform ‘Bhava Deepti’ musical programme at 12.00 noon. Sri Mahaganapathi sponsored Children and Women Yakshagana team of Katipalla Mangalore will perform ‘Kamsa Vadhe – Agra Pooje’ yakshagana show between 5.00 pm and 7.00 pm.
