Journalist shot dead in Jharkhand


Ranchi, May 13 (IANS): Unidentified assailants shot dead a journalist in Jharkhand's Chatra district, police said on Friday.

According to police, the assailants on motor bikes fired five rounds of bullets on Chatra-based journalist Indradeo Yadav on Thursday night. He died on spot.

The attack took place while he was returning home after work. Yadav worked as a correspondent for a local TV channel.

The Jharkhand Journalist Association (JAA) and Journalist Bichar Manch and other media associations have condemned the incident.

JAA has demanded arresting of the accused and Rs 50 lakh as compensation to Yadav's family.
