Riyadh, Sep 24: Aangann Konknechem Riyadh celebrated Monthi Fest on Friday September 12, 2014.
The new corn (Novem) was brought from Mangalore and was served with milk to all members of the community present during the celebration.
Delicious homemade vegetarian food consisting of Thoushya Karamb, Allum Dhento, Sango, Podwalen, Karathe, Thendlim, Ghosalim, Benda, Moog, Sanna and Vorn was prepared by the Mangalorean community residing here. Mangalorean tradition was followed and the food was served to all in banana leaves.
Roshan Lobo, Secretary of AKR welcomed the gathering and conducted the entire programme.
The programme started with a spiritual prayer conducted by Jovita Frank Bantwal and The Word of God was read by her and Prayer of the Faithful were read by Treeza Nazareth Mangalore, Janet D’Souza Mudarangadi, Anitha Lasrado Bantwal, Inish Fernandes Mudarangadi, Babitha Rodrigues, Vinod Dias Bantwal, Anitha Shalini D’Souza Mudarangadi, Naveen D’Souza Palimar, Mery Alva Mudarangadi.
Children showered flowers while everybody sang "Sakkod Sangatha Mellyam" and "Moryek Hogollsiyam".
The essence of the traditional 'Novem Jevan' was conveyed beautifully and meaningfully.
Roshan Lobo conducts games for all. The indoor session of entertainment concluded with 'Houssie' which was conducted by Conrad Nazareth, Mangalore.
The adults had a gala time playing outdoor game pot breaking competition.
