Mangalore, Jan 28: "BJP prime ministerial candidate Narendra Modi will visit Mangalore on February 18 and address a rally at Nehru Maidan at 3 pm. Today the district BJP will discuss and plan his visit," said BJP MLC Bhanuprakash.

Addressing a press meet on Tuesday January 28 at the district BJP office here, he said, "Congress is underestimating Modi by saying that a tea seller cannot win elections. Even a tea seller can become the Prime Minister, anyone can become the PM."

Replying to a question on BJP's plans for Yeddyurappa who recently rejoined the party, he said, "If Yeddyurappa stands for elections it is a good news for everyone. The party wishes him to stand for elections as he is sure to win. If we all work together we can bring about changes in society."

He also said that by February 5 or 6 the BJP will announce the list of candidates for the Lok Sabha elections.

On BJP's preparations for the polls, he said, "Since January 15 we have been visiting every person in every nook and corner and distributing three pamphlets, detailing the scams and weakness of Congress, BJP's vision and success, and Narendra Modi's vision."

He further said, "Booth level agents (BLAs) who are assigned to each election booth should also vote with others. BLAs must examine the voters' list, address, booth numbers etc before the elections. BLAs should not be government staff. Their names should be mentioned in the voters' list at their respected booths. For each and every booth there will be booth level officer (BLO). Nursery school teachers, city corporation officers and others are assigned for this work," he added.

Member of Parliament Nalin Kumar Kateel highlighting the failures of Congress, said, "In Dakshina Kannada from last three to four months we have see the failure of the police department. Many incidents took place but the police did not respond appropriately in any of the cases. This is all happenning because of Congress rule. When BJP was in power, there was not even a single problem but now we can see that Congress is creating lots of problems.

"Congress is using police force only for political gains. Around 2 - 3 incidents have occured at Kulai but police are not at all bothered."

President of Dakshina Kannada district unit of BJP Pratap Simha Nayak, BJP district unit general secretary Sanjeev Matandoor, BJP state vice president Sulochana Bhat, Divakar Samani, Satish Prabhu were present.

I wonder how charismatic this NaMo is. Just taking his name itself makes shivering feeling in Opposition Parties. If he conducts any Rally means sure they are going to spend a few sleepless nights too. Anyhow, what may be the controversy in his Gujarat rule as claimed by Congiss and Other Opposition Parties but more than 50% of this beautiful Nation duly endorsed his PM candidacy. Now I know few of them including our few hard line commenter will rush there with audio or video recording instrument to file a case against NaMo and BJP by claiming that he made “derogatory” speech where by insisting communal harmony in Mangalore region but little did they understand that there is no harmony without NaMo rule in India

    A open letter to Mr.Modi

Welcome to Mangalore/Kudla. This city was a peace loving place until recently where hindus, muslims and Christians lived life in harmony. But BJP affiliated goons have made this place less harmonious to say the least. There were attacks on Christians and their worshipping places here, but the then BJP government in Karnataka has done nothing to stop these atrocities. These goons freely roam the streets.
You are coming to Mangalore to ask for our votes and indeed that is okay. But how can you ask votes when we are bruised by the actions of the elements in BJP?
This place is a hub of education. This is a peaceful place once, but no more. Women and young girls and boys are attacked in the name of moral policing and I am sure you are aware of these events, if not, you should enquire about it with your party affiliates.
Peace loving Mangaloreans need harmony here. We need to continue living here without violence or attacks on other religions.
We need assurances from you that these attacks will never occur under your rule, if you happened to be the PM of Hindustan, a secular nation. There should not be a place for Communalism in BJP if this party wants to govern this beautiful land.
Sir, can you provide these assurances when you speak to us when you are in Mangalore?
We want to hear from you.
    Thank you.

We Mangaloreans would like to ask Feku for an explanation to his claims.

In his Blog Feku mentioned “Over the last few years, the Government of Gujarat has also succeeded in completely wiping off the revenue deficit from the level of Rs. 7,000 crores and is poised to be a revenue surplus state”.

    Actual Fact:
Economic Times stated “The state government had taken a loan of Rs 15,083 crore to adjust the monetary deficit of Rs 11,027 crore, leaving a balance of Rs 3 ,645 crore, which is poor debt management”

The New York Times said in an outstanding editorial published on October 26, 2013 that over 1,000 people, mostly Muslims, were killed in 2002 in the Indian State of Gujarat under his watch, Narendra Modi, who was the State´s chief minister and now opposition the BJP´s prime ministerial candidate, may not be able to lead India effectively if he inspires “fear” and antipathy among many of its people.
The editorial says: “His rise to power is deeply troubling to many Indians, especially the countries 138 million Muslims and its many other minorities.”
It is important to mention, India is a country with multiple religions, more than a dozen major languages and numerous ethnic groups and tribes. Mr Modi cannot hope to lead it effectively, and it shall be repeated, if he inspires fear and antipathy among many of its people.
And the AAP´s giant win in Delhi has meant the BJP cannot claim that its prime ministerial candidate, Narendra Modi, who campaigned extensively in the capital of India, has stirred the city.
Mr Kejriwal and other AAP leaders said that the Delhi result allows them to be seen by voters as a viable option for the national election.
The AAP is a young and attractive political party and people from all walks of life support, their honest efforts to eradicate corruption which in one of the biggest problems in India.
The AAP can be pretty sure to receive an excellent result in the coming general elections in India and that means that the AAP will have a big impact on other political parties what will change the Indian political landscape.
After the elections in Delhi, it will be extremely difficult for Mr Nadrenda Modi to become prime minister.

    Best regards

Regarding acts of violence, Nalin must remember that his party lent tacit support to Sanghi thugs to attack churches and the Christian community in 2008.

Besides, they were responsible for sowing seeds of hatred between different communities. Even worse, they openly supported saffronization of police forces and misled youth to choose the path of violence and immoral policing.

Nalin is a reflection of the BJP's shabby rule in KA. He been a total and complete failure and is a misfit to represent the enterprising and smart Mangaloreans in Indian parliament.

He hasn't participated in any meaningful debate nor raised any questions in Loksabha. As an MP, he has neglected his constituency, failed to bag projects and has tried to appease his right wing fans.
