Udupi: Rotary club holds prog on friendship, service, celebration

Udupi, Oct 4: Minister of urban development, Vinay Kumar Sorake has said that it is necessary to spread awareness on service orientation in society.

He was speaking during a programme held by Rotary club, Malpe Kodavooru on friendship, service and celebration at Kidiyoor Hotel, Pawan Roof Hall on Wednesday October 3, evening.

He said that several service oriented programmes similar to the ones held by Rotary will be held by the government. Deliberate committees will be formed for the purpose with certain responsibilities entrusted to them. Several people friendly programmes can be held with such committees, he said.

Minister Sorake was given honorary membership of Rotary by former district Rotary governor Surya Prakash Bhat who welcomed the minister to the Rotary family.

Winners of community service project competition in Rotary district 3180 region 1, 2 and 3 were given away prizes.

Dayananda Shetty, Prakash M Kodavooru, Lion Vyjayanthi Karanth, Basuma Kodagu and Astro Mohan were felicitated.

Poornima Janardhan presided over the programme. Former governor of Rotary district 3180 Surya Prakash Bhat, Jnana Vasanth Shetty, lions Jayakar Shetty Indrali, Mahesh Kumar M, Mahabaleshwar Bhat, Madhava Suvarna and Prakash Shetty Brahmavara were present.

Priya Bhat led the prayer. Janardhan Kodavooru thanked.
