Mangalore: Exporters’ Meet on banking and finance held at Panipat

Mangalore, Aug 12: Exporters’ Meet was organized jointly by Karnataka Bank Ltd, Federation of Indian Export Organizations (FIEO) and Panipat Exporters’ Association recently at Panipat. 

The meeting was organized to promote export business in Haryana, especially in and around Panipat. The programme was inaugurated by A K Rastogi, IRS, additional commissioner, central excise and presided by P Jayarama Bhat, managing director and CEO of Karnataka Bank Ltd.

Ajay Sahai, director general and CEO, FIEO welcomed the guests and Chandrashekar Rao B, deputy general manager of Karnataka Bank gave a brief note on the purpose of organizing the event in association with FIEO. He also informed about the infrastructure available at Karnataka Bank for effectively catering to exporters.

A K Rastogi, IRS, additional commissioner, central excise informed about the issues related to excise department and the measures undertaken by excise department to promote exports.

P Jayarama Bhat, managing director and CEO of Karnataka Bank Ltd in his presidential remarks informed that the bank treats export credit as national priority and to further facilitate the exporters, the bank has taken a decision to reimburse the interest subvention on rupee export credit upfront on monthly basis wef July 1, 2013 to all the eligible exporters. He also informed that Karnataka Bank is committed to provide export credit to all the eligible exporters at a competitive interest rate and assured the exporters of Panipat that they will get excellent service from the bank at all times.

S K Singh, assistant general manager, Reserve Bank of India detailed about the recent developments in the forex market and the measures taken by RBI to control the rupee decline against other foreign currencies.

Srinivas S Dandapur, senior manager, Forex Support Group of Karnataka Bank presented about the forex infrastructure of Karnataka Bank and the forex products available to the exporters. He informed that Karnataka Bank is in the forex business for last three decades and the bank has all necessary forex infrastructure to deliver hassle free service to forex customers.

Prem Vij, president, Panipat Exporters’ Association and Rajbir Sharma, Jt DGFT, Panipat also spoke on the occasion.

During the open house session, various issues related to banking, government support to exporters were discussed.

Vijayashankar Rai K, deputy general manager and regional head of Delhi region proposed vote of thanks. During the event M/s Fashion Group International of Panipat was awarded the Gold Card under the Gold Card Scheme of the bank for exporters.

More than 150 exporters in and around Panipat participated in the exporters’ meet.
