K S Eshwarappa quits as BJP state president

Shimoga, Mar 7 (IANS):
Ahead of coming assembly polls due in May, Karnataka BJP chief K.S. Eshwarappa Thursday announced he has resigned from the post.

"I have sent my resignation to the party president Rajnath Singh," he told reporters in Shimoga, his home town, about 270km north of Bangalore.

He said he expected the party to decide on his successor in three or four days.

The resignation came as a surprise though his three-year term as state party president ended in January as there was speculation that the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) might retain him in the post till the assembly elections are over.

The party, ruling Karnataka for the first time, is in a bad shape due to corruption scandals and dissidence. Talk in BJP circles was that changing the party chief when assembly polls are near will only worsen the situation in the state unit as there were many aspirants for the chair.

Eshwarappa took over as state party chief in Jan 2010 after resigning from the ministry headed then by B. S. Yeddyurappa.

He joined the Jagadish Shettar cabinet as one of the deputy chief ministers in July last year. Eshwarappa will continue as deputy chief minister handling revenue portfolio.

It is simple logic and even kindergarten can understand Mr. K.S.Eshwarappa’s game. He knows that BJP will be out this time and even he himself not sure about his future in politics!!!!!! So best think is to get out from all blames and if BJP lost he is good. If BJP wins try for C.M. Post. These BJP people are like that and they will be always great……..for the nation.

Its simple, go for election with Shettar as driver & DVS as conductor. BJP wants to work out Ligaayat Vokkaliga combination this time so that both the majority chunk of vote bank which form almost 50% is made to feel that the party has not deserted anyone & not to give much control to Devegowda on one side & try to control Yeddi's chaddi on the other side. With keeping Eshu as president BJP would only loose 2 extra seats but gain none. But chances that such structuring & re-structuring bring back people's confidence to BJP is a faint hope I guess. Only question left is what about RSS's intentions of bringing Nalinanna to this post!!!

    Ismail,

You were worried about BJP's president appointment. You were questioning BJP's capability of appointing new president. Now you are taking U turn as expected.

Eshwarappa was told to resign. In fact 10 days back I clearly told you here, we will have new president in 15-20 days. It is happening now what I said.

BJP has announced CM candidate and will have new president in a week. But pathless congis have announced PM candidate 15 months before the election and not capable enough to announce CM candidate for the election which is due in 2 months. That is why we call congress as jokers party.

Dinesh Poojari....In fact now the Pandora box is opened which was postponed several times due to tug of war between A.KUMAR-RSS-BJP. DVS's dissent @ the moment is BJP president 'chair' issue which was promised earlier by BJP H.Command.In the process,A.Kumar came in between DVS and H.Command that put the process on hold.Interestingly, once up on a time A.Kumar was mentor of DVS and both were together played politics in sidelining Mr DANAJAKUMAR by getting DVS to contest from Mangalore MP Constituency .Now,a proverb which seems be reality to DVS is that What goes around is come around!! RSS's ion(NALEEN),A.KUMAR's ion(KARJOLA),BJP H. Command's ion is DVS !!!!!!Now whoever comes to the post should face other two side's wrath for sure.
Summery...It does not matter who will preside over sinking ship but as buddy (SHARATH)opined is correct because Vokkaligas are very angry for dethroning DVS and if President Chair offered to Vakkaliga leader (DVS)then the combination of VAKKALIGA-LINGAYATH(SHETTAR)may work ray of hope to get respectable numbers of MLAs but not magic number of MLAs to form either alliance Govt or it's own.

    Hi, Dinesh Poojary,
Better jokers than looters. BJP has proved that your guys loot the state to fund the election and pay for the buys who commit atrocities. Don't you know that jobless youth were employed to pelt stones at Churches and were paid for it? BJP will pay for it this time during election.

Nothing new here. Just a ploy to give jobless DVS some work. Also DVS giving statements to press during ULB elections regarding party candidates for assembly by, bypassing KSE must have irked him. Just wait, there is more to come. This is just the gas, s#iT is yet to come out.

BJP Karnataka passing in a very very difficult time under the circumstances...There are no coordination/understanding between the senior leaders. DVS is not in good terms with Shettar because the latter's betrayal and align with BSY to grab CM post and once again Anath Kumar's interference in the party sidelining ISH,coupled with R Ashok's quiet working together with A.KUMAR to become Numero UNO!!!! These are the CHOW CHOW problems which could be sorted it out the moment and after or before Assembly election, I AM NOT SURPRISED IF ALL THESE PROBLEM COULD BE SOLVED BY INDUCTING BSY TO BJP ONCE AGAIN BECAUSE BJP AND BSY ,both are the looser if they depart!!In politics there are no friends or foes permanently EXCEPT CONGRESS and BJP..
