Udupi: Milagres College Kallianpur Holds Inter-collegiate Science Elocution Competition

Udupi, Dec 19: Karnataka Rajya Vigyan Parishattu held the Mangalore University level inter-collegiate science elocution competition – 2012 at Milagres College, Kallianpur on Mondau December 17.

Fr Stany B Lobo, the managing correspondent of Milagres Institutions inaugurated the competitions by lighting the lamp and also blessed the occasion.

In his introductory speech, U R Madhyastha, the president of Karnataka Rajya Vigyan Parishattu, Udupi district, urged the present youth to take up the challenge to popularize science education in Kannada and take it to common man.

The competitions were conducted in two streams; physical sciences and biological sciences. About ten colleges participated in the same. Chaithra of St Agnes College Mangalore, and Gagana K of Poorna Pragnya College, Udupi respectively won the first and the second place in biological sciences and Chethana of MGM College Udupi and Chaithanya S Shetty of G Shankar Govt First grade College for Women Ajjarkadu, Udupi respectively won the first and the second place.

U R Madhyastha, president KRVP Udupi district, Keshava Acharya, Govt PU College Muniyalu, Indira Rao, MJC Manipal, Sunil Kumarm MJC Manipal, Ganesha Barlaya of Govt PU College, Kukkuje and Balaganagadhara Shetty VKRV High school, Kunjalu were the judges for the competition.

Dr Nery Cornelio, principal of the college presided over the function.
 
The dean of science faculty of the college, Dr Gerald Pinto was present on the occasion.

The convener of science association,professor Archana K Dabade welcomed the gathering and Dinesh Shettigar, the district coordinator for science lecture competitions delivered vote of thanks.

Hemalatha and Shakunthala of final year BSc compered the programme.
