Beltangady: Sowjanya Murder Case Handed over to CoD

Daijiworld Media Network – Beltangady (VM)

Beltangady, Nov 18: The state government has handed over the investigation into the brutal rape and murder of 17-year-old Sowjanya to CoD, sources said.

Sowjanya was found raped and murdered at Pangala in Dharmasthala last month. The case had shook the entire district, and coming under public pressure, police had arrested Santhosh Rao, a mentally ill person, soon after the incident.

Police also filed various charges against him as the sole accused in the case. Various doubts have emerged since then over involvement of more hands. A number of protests have been held in the district especially in Dharmasthala demanding justice.

While Sowjanya's parents have been demanding CBI or CoD probe right from day one, support has also come from other quarters as well. Sri Esha Vittaldasa Swamiji of Kemar Math was one of the first among prominent persons to visit the family and publicly call for thorough investigation into the case by higher agencies.

Dr Veerendra Heggade, Dharmadhikari of Dharmasthala too had urged for CoD probe in the matter, following which the state government conceded to the request and ordered further investigation by the CoD.

    Dear Daiji:

CoD is controlled by the State Government and people have no faith. CoD officials may be honest but when the chief minister orders they have to abide by his command. CBI is much better and only they can do the best job but even there these culprits may play the game. The Police have arrested a mental man, and he is not definitely the murderer, this is done by highly influential persons. Poor chap he is punished because there is no one to fight for him. Every one knows who is the culprit but afraid to tell that person's name. Because of the fear that he/she may be murdered too. There is no sanctity in the religious circle. Hope God will reveal it to the concerned authorities.

it is not the question of whom to hand over the case and who will solve it justly. question is will the incidnt not occur in the near future? so what is more needed and of concern is how can we prevent these type of inhuman acts in the future. what can each of us do so that young and old men and women live in peace, love and respect. we need many more good hearted persons to come forward and lead by the example. at-least the next generation will be able to live in harmony with all. very important is to teach and introduce human values in the school books rather than introducing some person, attachments and communal interest. its a time that the society wakes up and introspects self then jumps to preventing these inhuman acts. can any one understand the agony of the family members? does she deserve to die? if it was my own little sister how do i feel. this is what the society must think
