Belthangady: 17-year-old Girl Raped, Brutally Killed

Belthangady: Police Suspect Murdered Girl was Gang-raped

Daijiworld Media Network - Belthangady

Belthangady, Oct 11: The brutal rape and murder of young Sowjanya near Pangala is now suspected to be a gang rape.

The inspection of the crime spot has reportedly given clear indication to the police that at least four to six persons may have attacked Sowjanya.

It is said that Sowjanya had alighted from the bus at Netravati bus stand and was on her way home, when she was dragged into the forest area by her perpetrators. Her hands were tied with her uniform shawl, and her clothes were found to be torn. There was mud on legs, indicating signs of struggle. She was reportedly strangled to death.

This is the second case of murder in Dharmasthala region in less than a month. On September 21 a double murder had taken place wherein Narayana, who was mentally ill, and his sister Yamuna had been battered to death. The police have failed to unearth any clue or make any progress in the case. In another case, in Puttur, a man by name Military Ashraf was caught for the brutal murder of Sowmya Bhat, a student. He escaped from the jail and is yet to be traced.

Belthangady: 17-year-old Girl Raped, Brutally Killed

Belthangady, Oct 10:  In a shocking incident, a 17-year-old girl was found brutally murdered near Pangala in Dharmasthala, on Wednesday October 10.

The deceased has been identified as Sowjanya, daughter of Chandappa Gowda, a PWD contractor and resident of Pangala. Sowjanya was a second year PU student of SDM College, Ujire.

It is learnt that her parents lodged a missing report in Belthangady police station when she did not return home after class on Tuesday October 9 evening. A search operation was launched, but she could not be found.

Sources told Daijiworld that her body was found on Wednesday among the bushes beside the road leading to Pangala. She was wearing her uniform and her bag was found nearby. Police suspect that she has been raped and murdered.

Her hands were fastened with the shawl which she was wearing, and there was mud on her legs showing signs of a struggle. Her clothes were torn and she was reportedly strangled to death.

Also, her gold chain and earrings were left intact, making it clear that robbery was not the intention.

Sowjanya was the second among Chandappa's four daughters and one son. Her elder sister is married.

SP Abhishek Goyal, Puttur inspector Sudarshan and Belthangady SI Yogish Kumar visited the spot.

Belthagady police have registered a case. Investigations are on.

This is the double standards of BJP. Belthangady, Sowjanya, PU student of SDM College, Ujire was raped and killed , Harish in Bantwal was chased and killed , RTI activist Baliga in Mangalore was killed at early wee hours, and BJP never did any protest. Now during election, all these leaders wake up.

Yours is a very racist comment which is no better than this rape and murder that has taken place. Hate speech leads to violence. Rape and murder is violence too, hence your comment has done nothing to overcome violence. You think you are morally better than Africans, I wonder what makes you think so. There are good and bad in every part of the world, hence generalization of Africans as sub-human is very derogatory for which you need to apologize and be sorry for in your heart. I know many Africans who are very good people and I have come across many incidents in India which would put those involved at the other extreme hence what gives you the right to think Indians are a more moral people than Africans? Shame on you for thinking you are morally better than Africans.

It is real saddening to know that the culprits have still been untraced thanks to inept police of Dakshina Kannada district. In this technology world, it is easy to track the culprits with their last mobile conversation, etc. Why cant police track the mobile call/user details of the accused at the time of crime? If one is caught, the rest will follow. How powerful the people are, it is time for people to act. Come on, RSS, VHP, Bajrang Dal, Ram Sene, fight now for this cause if you truly respect and care about Hindus. The police who handled the case should be dismissed from service for dereliction of duty.

The culprits should be tortured to death the same way the girl was killed. This will be a future lesson to all rapists. It is a shame that so many girls have gone missing/killed or raped in the area, police are yet to solve the cases? Why do we need police then? I sincerely request the people who have seen the girl being kidnapped come out in open for God sake? Who knows, tomorrow their kith and kin or own daughter might get raped like this.

Hanging is not suitable for those ANIMALS. They should be tortured to death the very next moment their crime is proved. They should be tortured for the same period as they tortured that innocent girl. This is necessary because they should realize their mistake and that they were so cruel to do so. If this happens with their sister/mother/wife..., how would they react? Would they keep quiet? If not, then why do they do this with others? If the govt. cannot change the law, then let the culprits be handed over to us. V will take care of them..........!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

So sad to hear this. May her soul rest in peace. May God grant strength to her family members to bear this loss. This is unconsolable tragedy. Those who raped and killed this innocent girl have no right to live in the society. The main reason for all these crimes is our law is so liberal to rapists and criminals. We should have strict laws to punish the guilty. Life imprisonment will not serve any purpose. These criminals apply for mercy and get away due to their good behaviour in jail. Think about girl's family. There should not be any mercy for rapists and criminals. They should be uted immediately. Human rights followers will cry as violation of human rights whenever they ute the criminals. But where are these human right activists when rape and murder takes place? Sincere request to Karnataka Law Minister to take this matter seriously. Also request daiji to follow up the matter and bring to the attention of law minister. Rape cases are increasing day by day along with murders. Hope the law authorities wake up this time before its too late and take timely action. These criminals should not be given bail and lawyers who defend them should also be punished.

Why brothels ? Are there ex-rapist men to entertain the newly arriving rapists ? No ! Brothels house helpless, abducted/kidnapped and forced women to entertain. If you are offering sympathy to a rapist I don't think any man will support you. Awareness at lowest level is alright but forgiving a rapist is like exposing our own family women to brutality. Don't ever expect this will happen in a society where men guard their mother/sister/wife with love and reverence, they don't wait for a change to auction them !

How much difficulties and struggles the parents face to give birth and grow a child, today?
What type of punishment these human animals deserve for treating the supreme creation of God as one time use and throw item?
Even the cruel animals hunt the victims for survival but use sense in their physical relationship!
Can human beings with sense and conscience, commit this unforgivable crime?
Don’t we agree that drunkenness, freedom, money, unemployment and modern technology are the main reasons for this miserable situation and dangerous social evil?

Because Earth worms are very harmless and very very useful to our nature. Besides, Earthworms are 'Bi-Sexual', which means each earthworm has both Male & Female Organs, and they don't have do depend on another Earthworm for Procreation. Every Earthworm can procreate itself. So in the world of Earthworms there is nothing called Rape.

In such instances, these dirty people try to take advantage to eve tease the girls or indulge in any other filthy act. In such cases parents should take the responsibility of their girls. The government of India must bring a law that murderers should be kept in prison for life time that means till they die. It is now better to take Andaman Islands to be a life time prison for the murderers. Let the people of India fight for this good cause and get the Prison for murderers in Andaman at the earliest. Barbaric & in-human act. Sad & shocking in a human society. I pray to the grieving family for the strength to bear this misery.

As most expressed the culprits be handed over to public I wish that all the underworld dons, Ajamal Kassab & terrorists & corrupt mongrels also to be handed over to the public either to be stoned or butchered by the public. They should also handover the moral police and so called custodians for their barbaric acts!!

The moral of the story is - Barbaric acts should be punished Barbarically!!

Karnataka seems to become Haryana of South regarding heinous Rape & Female-feoticide. We in India just worship female Gods as Matha, but really don't believe it from heart. Moral Police where were you all.
Haryana is notoriously Number One State in India in Rape Cases and Female-Feoticide. 12 rapes in last 15 days there. KHAP Panchayats of Haryana have justified such heinous Crimes stating that just because parents did not marry off their daughters within 16 yrs of age, such things are taking place. All victims were of lower castes.
God save this Bharath, which is boasting to have best Sanskriti in the world.!.

    MR. STEEVAN,
We are not following any footprints of other states. We have very good law and order compare to the other states. Delhi is top in rape and sex cases, in Haryana 14 cases reported in one month. In UP since Akilesh came to power, 2347 criminal cases reported in six months, in that 1100 rape and sex related. Thease states are UPA friendly states. Central Govt failed to control the law & order in thease states. So please dont compare Karnataka to other states in law & order, we are much better that others. This is a rare incident for D.K people, our Police break this case very soon.

I strongly condemn this kind of vulnerable act and suggest to implement SHARIA law to stone to death for rapists irrespective of religion , be it a muslim , hindu or chirstian . I remember once Mr L.K advani had said to kill the rpaists, i dont know wht govt doesnt want to this. If this law is initiated in INDIA then no doubt the crime rate will come down.

Capital punishment is the only solution to prevent these kind of brutality. The verdict should be pronounced by the court in a short period to the convicted. There should be no bail, no judicial custody, no police custody, no VIP custody etc. The time is running out of hand. H. E. The President of India shall make an amendment to this age old IPC punishment .

Indeed not a bad idea, Rahul. I was in Saudi and have seen for myself some public utions (beheading by the sword). But sadly, unfortunately, ours is a ''democratic country". I tell you, first we must WITHOUT HESITATION ute our moron, maniac, corrupt politicians (directly or indirectly involved) by the sword (beheading) as is being done in Saudi Arabia. No trials, no court judges, just to issue the punishment through Sharia Law - no ''show cause notice'' no ''contempt of court'' etc. Just a plain clean swipe of their body part(s) with the long sword. That is enough to send a chill down their spine for the rest of their lives - they will retreat from their draconian deeds and behavior. Then and only then, there will be hope for India, else we are dooooooooooomed.

This is purely a case of attrocity on Minor. Naturally, any person who has done this act should be severly punished. The culprit should be punished at the earliest, as there are many such students from remote areas, who cannot forgo their education, for sake of such activity. Student Unions should protest before concerned authorities for early nabbing of culprits & speedy Justice.

Many people expressed their anger by commenting many types of punishments. The punishment should not be death. The private parts of the culprits should be removed. one kedney, one eye to be removed and donated to concerned hospital. If this law applied, I bet there may not be any rape case in India. I request concerned court to look in to, apply this rule & save the young girls from these jobless rowdies.
