Mangalore, Feb 13: The members of Vishwa Hindu Parishad (VHP) and Bajrang Dal on Monday February 13 protested against the celebration of Valentine's Day and called for the closure of pubs in the city on February 14.

Stressing on how Valentine's Day, a western concept, has eroded Indian culture, the protestors urged the district administration to take steps to ensure that youths in the city do not indulge in any immoral or vulgar acts. They warned that their members would take action themselves if anything offensive takes place, and that they would hand over the offenders to the police.

They also submitted a memorandum in this regard to the district administration, and demanded a deadline of 11 pm be set for parties taking place in the city on February 14, and that pubs and discotheques be closed.

The activists also said that owners of bars and restaurants in the city have been requested not to encourage Valentine's Day celebrations. Even college students have been told by means of pamphlets not to celebrate the day.

The activists also said that they would be keeping a watch on parks and other places and catch any couple found violating Indian culture.

The protest was initially planned as a bike rally, but the activists had to be content with a march from Urwa market to PVS circle, as they had failed to get prior permission for the bike rally.

All that hoopla surrounding V-day is just petty. V-day is just another day, for those who want it to blown out is just another business day to make money.
One does not need, v-day it is just foolish fro both ends those who favour it and those who oppose it. Is this a novelty for Indians or just fun and frolic. True love comes everday and need not be shown in public at large.

Why are those college students in the pics accepting pamphlets from these retards?
We Mangalorians are also to blame. We can come out in force to support Anna Hazare but we'll never speak out against what is really affecting us in Mangalore!
To hell with Anna Hazare! We need to fight this moral policing first.
These goons need to be taught a lesson. We should demand for a bill that bans all these senas and sanghas.

What a pathetic state of affairs when sadak chaaps and hooligans of the worst kind march in the streets self proclaiming to be protectors of Indian culture and then we have our so called intellectuals writing comments praising the work of these goondas. Therefore it is not surprising to see that in the end we get gangsters, rapists, murderers and porn watchers as our leaders. This is what we claim to be our culture. Really unbelievable !!!!!

Some of you are wearing Jeans pants and T-shirts. It is of western and not Indian. Pants itself are from western. Pull down your pants and wear dhothi-kurthas and protest. Then we can say you are the real protector of Indian Culture.

How many of you all use Mobile, Computer, Internet? What is useful for you all is not western according to you? right? Dont you celebrate Birthdays? that is also came from western. Why you celebrate weddings in hall with big big loud speakers? Why the name called "WEDDING RECEPTION"? Cant you people simply get marry in temple?

I am strong opposer of Valentine Day, Pubs, Rave party. Not only these but also of Bar culture (where they sell Beer, Whisky, wine etc) and also Cigarette, Pan, Ghutka, drugs.

I can understand your feeling. But my dear friend please be responsible citizen of India. Our culture is not so deteriorated, that you can say so confidently that everybody watch porn pictures. Porn Clippings are not our culture. You are justifying yourself & your BJP Leaders by giving this kind of statements. My dear friend, What about Rave Party in our Divine Sri Krishna Paramaatma's Land. It is the serious Offence committed by BJPians. Where was VHP, Bajrang Dal at that time. Why didn't they stop it has they used to do before at various Malls, Beaches, resorts etc.

This behaviour of VHP, Bajrang Dal shows that they are really don't want to stop these culture. They are just pretending as if they are stopping these things. When it comes to their BJP Leaders, while it may be Rave Party that to in our Divine land of Sri Krishna Paramaatma, they are silent and also it may be porn watching, they are silent. Most of the Guy's in these Snapshot have bad habits, they drink Beer, smoke, evening time they will be hanging over in Bar & restaurant. Is this our culture?

It would be good to dissuade the youth from celebrating decadent festivals, which are likely to encourage promiscuity. But if the gradual acceptance of such festivities in cities such as Mumbai after being opposed tooth and nail initially is any indication, then in all likelihood it would be an exercise in futility elsewhere too. Let’s educate the youth through peaceful means by creating awareness about their adverse impact on society.

Dear culture preserver what is Indian
culture ? what is the meaning of Valentine ? watching blue film in the
law makers office ? raping 6yr old girl by an old man ?
Try to understand what is the meaning and purpose of remembering
Valentine Day. Do you know About Dushiyantha Maharajas and Skunthala
story,oh may not knowing.I think you do not know why you are projecting such a useless argument.
Do you love anybody ? if so who will make you join ? Here people from all over the world just remembering that day of an incident
    that's all.
No one can stop this because this
21st century and not stone age or
    3rd century..

This is free publicity for Valentine's day. Few years back, many people did not even know what was Valentine's day, leave alone celebrating it. Today, thanks to these demos, more and more people know about Valentine's day. In fact, it is becoming more and more popular every year. Look at the TV serials, everybody is promoting it because of its popularity.

Personally, I am against any form of vulgarity in public, but forcing someone's views on others violently is totally unacceptable. If there are any violation of laws of the land, let the authorities concerned deal with the situation. Let not the self styled groups take the law in their own hands.

First of all these bunch of fools shown in the picture above are flouting Indian culture by wearing western outfits. They should wear mundu or langoti and long kurta and then talk about indian culture. Shun them in public and when they are alone take them to a dark place and suffocate them so that they are eliminated for ever only in the best interest of peace. Guys for your information, I already celebrated the Valentines day with pride just to violate these dirty peoples warning. If you see, every member of above gang, one can find them in the arrack shop or toddy shop in the evening. I bet. Can any one challenge what I said here.....

I have one question to them. Is it Indian culture to watch porn clips of Indian women, by politicians sitting in the assembly???? Why didnt they protest??? Both VHP and BD always maintain double standards. These people are out to make some money from flower vendors, bars and clubs in the name of protectors of cultures. Kick at them so strongly that they dont get up again to disturb peace and harmony.. Hypocrites..

Mind you VHP and BD, try your level best to divide the society in the guise of "CULTURE", your conspiracies will not see light of the day. How many of these youth are responsible hardworking and supporting their families, hardly none. First know your responsibilities and then walk out to teach others. Shameless "vultures". Close pubs Waah!! These same creatures will hang around these BARS and pubs at night and indulge in all sorts of nonsense.

If you want to ban the so called western culture then, ban all the western products......Pepsi, coke, KFC and so on. Come on guys there are better ways to protest and show your talent rather than indulging in such kind of activities and threatening to take law and order into your hands. Valentines Day is celebrated throughout the world as a day of love and bonding. What originated in the west has taken the youth of perhaps from all nooks of the world in its arena. St. Valentine stands as a mascot of unified love for the people who believe in celebrating this day. India being a country of different religions and castes, has also accepted this day as one of its own. A country that celebrates almost all the festivals of the world is not alien to this day of love.

As the world remembers St. Valentines, India has its reasons to remember the Hindu lord of love, Kamdev. Lord Kamdev is a part of the Hindu myths and possesses a flowery bow. A belief in India says that the arrow that leaves his bow often strikes the lovers. The importance of Valentines Day in India grows every year. India being the land where the treatise of love took birth is now a part, as the world celebrates Valentines. So i say happy Valentine's day everyone!!Just ignore these uneducated goons.

VHP, Bajrandal, BJP, Pornography is your culture, not Valentine's day, that is why you take it to the Assembly. Is this what you are asking people to follow. You never protested that how come?. By the way Happy Valentine's day. You have all the right to protect the society evils i.e misusing the festivals for personal reasons but dont you dare tell people not to celebrate Valentine's day. Westernisation may not be your culture. So stop sending your children to English medium schools. By the way why are you wearing pants and shirts why not the lungies or Kasties you freaks.

Dear Communal People, whether you like it or not Valentine's day is here to stay. How it is to be celebrated is none of your business. If you cannot accept certain cultures you dont have to practice it. This is a democracy you cannot tell others how to celebrate their festivals. You need to get a good understanding of What is Valentine's day?. That is what the internet is for. Dont look at the negatives. Look at the positives. You can demand the stopping of negatives not the festival itself. St. Valentine is our Saint - in simple tone "Lay Off". You can ask your  bretheren to stop celebrating our festival but you dare not tell us what to do!! You get it!!
