Bangalore, Sep 9: In a sudden development that has come as a shock for the sandalwood lovers, as well as the die-hard fans of cine actor, Darshan, who is popularly known as 'Challenging Star', the actor has been reportedly arrested by the personnel of Vijayanagar police station here for assaulting and threatening his wife, Vijayalaxmi, with a revolver.
On Friday morning, based on a written complaint filed by Vijayalaxmi, policemen arrested the actor. He is currently being interrogated.
The complaint of assault against the actor came from the house of a family friend located at Vijayanagar. As per the complaint, the celebrated actor has been torturing his wife and child since a long time.
Exact reason for the assault or posing life threat could not be ascertained. Vijayalaxmi Darshan is now being treated at a private hospital in Vijayanagar. She is in the intensive care unit of the hospital, and has reportedly suffered head injuries.
Darshan, son of erstwhile sandalwood villain, Toogdeepa Srinivas, has a huge fan following. He has acted in numerous hit movies. He is married to Vijayalaxmi since the last seven years. Theirs was a love marriage followed by a love affair that lasted for four years. They were construed to be a happily married couple till now. The couple also have a three-year-old baby.
Three big budget movies featuring Darshan are set to be released soon. His arrest has sent shivers down the spines of sandalwood movie makers. Industry experts opine that the current episode may make a dent in the reputation of the actor, resulting in set back for his career, besides adversely affecting the producers of his movies.
