Movie Review: Bodyguard – Dashing Salman, Rocking Music, Light and That’s It

Mangalore, Aug 31: With the whole lot of hype and advance bookings, the much- awaited ‘Bodyguard’ of superstar Salman Khan did hit the theatres today and without a doubt the show was packed with excited audience.

Directed by Siddique, did the movie maintain the magic created by its Malayalam original and succeed in standing up to the expectations? Well I would shilly-shally to say yes.

Cast

The prime hero Salman as Lovely Singh was indeed ‘Lovely’. His entrance in the movie was befitting to the superb actor that he is. The title track with Katrina was very vibrant and his dance moves were simply amazing. We really cannot blame him for the movie’s not-so-great story line but no one else could have made the character of Lovely Singh look so lovely.

Kareena Kapoor too as Divya did justice to her role. She infact looked more elegant and charming in the movie with her nicely and creatively designed clothes which would soon be seen in the cloth stores for sure.

The moviemakers also tried to make the audience laugh through the character of debutant Rajat Rawail as Tsunami Singh but his dialogues seem silly at times and fail to amuse the audience. The roles of Raj Babbar, Hazel Keech, Aditya Pancholi and Mahesh Manjrekar  were fair enough.

Music

The movie stands high on music. Himesh Reshammiya has indeed done a great job by producing some of the finest songs including I love You, Teri Meri and the Desi Beat. The way the songs are presented are also something unusual and pleasant. So as long as the music of the movie is concerned I would give full marks.

Punch Dialogue

The dialogue one is sure to remember from the movie is that of Salman which he says in a unique style - 'Mujphe ek ehsaan karna, ke mujhpe koiehsaan na karma”.

Story Outline and Analysis

The story of the movie mainly revolves around Lovely Singh(Salman), the Bodyguard and Divya(Kareena).   Lovely Singh owes a debt to wealthy man Sartaj Rana(Raj Babbar) that he had saved his dieing mother when she was pregnant. Hence he is ready to do anything for Sartaj Rana. Lovely is very much loyal to Sartaj Rana and according to his will becomes a perfect bodyguard to his daughter(Divya) guarding her life in college.

Sartaj Rana had many enemies and in order to protect his daughter from danger Lovely Singh was made her bodyguard but initially she was not aware that her life was in trouble. Hence she was very reluctant when the bodyguard used to follow her to college.

Unaware of the threat to her life she becomes Chaya and tries her best to distract him and on realizing the truth falls in love with him. He too loves the phone girl chaya without realizing its his madam Divya. But he gets to know about this only at the end of the movie when he had already married Divya’s friend who dies later due to illness. The movie almost at the ending stage some what reminds us a little of Kuch Kuch hota hai where Rani dies in the beginning making way for Kajol-Shahrukh’s union.

Over all, Bodyguard remains a standard entertainer and just a light hearted movie. It can be watched once mainly for Salman’s outstanding appearance and just time pass on a holiday.

Conclusion

Bodyguard didn’t live up to the hype and deliver great success on the occasion of Eid. But if you are a die-hard Salman fan you’ll not be disappointed except that you would certainly feel the director could have utilized his skills better. Those who had too many expectations from the movie better give it a miss.

Itz a good movie..the only thing they cud hav made better is Salman's reaction when he realized Kareena is chaya and Kareena's reaction when Salman realized her as Chaya..they shud be releasin their feelings through deep emotional scenes rather than smiling n happy face..but overall the movie is gud ..bu don hesitat o say siddique, salman & Kareena rocks...

this movie is orignally made in malayamam..and its a comedy movie with hero as comedian more ..and dileep original malayalam hero is ready to do any comedy characters not looking at his image or star status..but unforutunately in tamil vija and and now salman cant do comedy with down to earth ..every time they try to mention thier star value..
in malayalam movie dileep look like ordinary body guard of india ..but salman adn vijay dress like black commando..more look like commando just come from uk or usa..
in every copy moive from malayalam this hidin so called acting less supper stars like sharukh or salman kills the charachter..
find the difference between sallu barbar and malayalam kadha paryoiumbol..
in malayalam importance was given to barbar character .to sreenivasa not super star mamooty..but in hindi and tamil its not to barbar character ..it went to sharukh and rajni..so both film look like artificial..
same way in manichitrataaz..it was character ganga ..shobanas importance..not to mohanlal..but in tamil ,kannada ,hindi ..centre point was vishnu, rajni and akshay..
this is how bollywood and tamil movie kill origina version from malayalam..
in malayalam movies comes based on character..but in bolly wood ..purelyon heor and his dress and six pack and heroines size zero..

For all those who have commented negatively about the review here kindly read the reviews in the other good sites like rediff, ndtv.U will know even there the rating is very poor. First You should know the technical things about the movie and then decide how well it has been presented and not simply blaming on the reviewer. When you will write reviews on your own you will know where u need to concentrate. Whatever has been reviewd here about Bodyguard is absolutely not wrong.

compering to southern version Body guard Hindi's story like and narration is bit poor and second heroin (Hazel Keech) is seems more posh than Kareen kapoor inspite of kareena belongs to RAISE family, emotion movement is less in climax they showed Kareen and Salman more young look than their collage time seven year before.

Stop lying, I am a fan of good cinema and I am currently in India for vacation and I have seen the movie 3 times already since the morning because of the amount of fun I am having in theaters. Don't get me wrong I saw the movie twice in a multiplex and once on a single screen with similar experiences and I paid nearly 3 times the ticket to buy my ticket from someone else in a multiplex to watch it again and am not at all disappointed. To the viewers of this review let me tell you this, if you enjoy good cinema and like to have fun with your family/friends then go watch this movie and you decide for yourselves. Most critics have given this movie 4/5 so this critic must be biased in some way. This critic probably didn't like 3 Idiots either.
