Mortal remains will be brought to St Francis Xavier Church, Bejai, Mangalore on Monday, November 27 for public homage at 4.00 pm. Funeral Mass at 5.00 pm.

I am deeply saddened by the loss that your family has encountered. Whenever I receive sad news about my teachers in Mangalore, my memories go back to my school days and I recall the fond experiences I made with all my teachers. In fact I was Nelly teacher's first tuition boy in 1954. Since we came down from Bombay and I joined the primary school at Bijay, at the end of the 2nd Standard, I had to learn Kannada as fast as possible. Those were the days when our families had closed ties with one another and as children we used to spend our evenings often at her place, admiring her father working with the handlooms. Throughout my schooling at Bijay, she was my guardian teacher and I can proudly claim that she not only taught us the subjects but also taught us the virtues of life.
The french Jesuit and Philospher Pierre Teilhard de Chardin once said " Someday after we mastered the winds, the waves, the tides and gravity, we shall harness for God the energies of love". These words are perfectly applicable to the life of our dear Nelly teacher who had triumphantly mastered many hardships in her younger days and experienced love and abundance through you all. Let us therefore seek solace in the words of Pope John XXIII " Our dear departed ones are not absent from us, they are around us but just invisible". Yes they are now our guardien angels
