Fr Joseph Peter Tauro (73) J P Tauro, Vianney Home, brother of Theresa Pereira (Bajpe) and Ligoury Tauro, passed away on Friday February 8, 2013.

He was the parish priest at Mukka, Udupi, Pangala, Bendur and Bejai.

The funeral Mass would be celebrated in St Vincent Ferrer Church, Valencia at 3.30 p.m. on Tuesday, February 12 and the mortal remains would be interred at priests’ cemetery in Valencia, Mangalore.

My aunt had sponsored Fr Tauro's prieshood and she entrusted me to maintain correspondence with him for a number years. I last wrote to him in December 2003 but got no reply. He must have moved to Vianney Home about that time. A truly great priest. Very sorry to learn I have lost a great friend. May the Lord reward this hard-working servant. LV.

It was wonderful meeting Fr Tauro after 11 yrs,three weeks before our good Lord in his kindness called him Home. It saddened us to see such a vibrant personality incapacitated. We shared a few laughs. His beautiful smile will live forever in our hearts. Thanks for being there in our hour of need. RIP.

I am the niece of Fr. J.P. Tauro, and I was in M'lore when he was admitted to Fr. Mullers recently. I never ever dreamed that he will not return to Vianney House. It was pathetic to see him suffer and I only wished that I could help him. My dear uncle, the Lord relieved you of your suffering and the injustice. Rest in peace. My only consolation is that I spent a good numbers of hours with him.

I new Father Tauro from my days at KREC campus. Father Tauro started the new church in Mukka in the early 70s. This is the place of worship for all the Catholics at KREC/NITK Campus. He was a strong supporter of our youth organization (CSU). I am sad to hear about his demise. May his soul rest in peace and May the good Lord give him eternal bliss.

Sad to know the demise of Fr. Tauro a priest who was committed dedicated to the upliftment of the poor and downtrodden. A great lover of environment and a good guide. I have had the opportunity of being very close to him and learn many things about service to the mankind when I was the Vice President of Bendur Prish for 4 years during his time. Many who knew him will very closely will miss him as he has given a great future to them and are prosperous today. Pray almighty to grant him eternal peace to him. Regret unable to attend the funeral as we are in Muscat now.

A great and true priest whom i admired most in Mangalore diocese. Udupi had a hut like church and Kannada medium school when he came. Today it is gold egg laying hen in Udupi diocese. Udupi chuch, Pangla church is what is because of him. He has solved the problems of bendue ND BIJAY PARISHES.

Shocked to hear about the demise of Rev.Fr.
