Rev Dr Lawrence Martis (55), son of the late Francis Martis and Cecelia Martis, brother of Leera Lobo, Leena Mendonca, Ronald Martis, the late Victor Martis, Praveen Martis and the late Prasanna Martis, passed away on Wednesday, November 25, 2020.

Funeral Mass on Monday, November 30 at 10.30 am (Canada) (9.00 pm - IST) from the Cathedral of St Catherine of Alexandria and can be accessed from the Diocese of St Catherine's, Ontario diocese, Canada.

Please note: Weekly Mass will be offered on Wednesday, December 2 in St Roque Church, Neerude at 9.00 am.

Condolences to the near ans dear ones of Fr Lawrence Martis for his sad demise. I met him in Manipal in 2014 when I went there to visit my nephew, Fr Roshan Castelino sj. I was amazed to see his simplicity ! Tomorrow I will offer mass for him & for his family. I am sure that the cathedral parish of Ontario has lost a great priest. RIP

God Saw you getting tired and a cure was not to be, So he put His arms around you and Whispered ,
"COME TO ME".

With tearful eyes, we watched him suffer,
And saw him fade away.
Although we loved him dearly,
We could not make him stay.
A golden heart stopped beating,
Hard working hands to rest.
God broke our hearts to prove to us
He only takes “The Best”.

I still miss the sound of your voice, the wisdom of your advice , the real and funny stories we had shared to each other . You were and will always be an inspiration to myself, the entire family and anyone who worked with you.

As you quoted on your whatsApp status "A cause worth dying for is also a cause worth living for...." Indeed, You fought an incredible battle till your last breath and now you are in a better place(an eternal life) You have left a void in the family that will never be filled.

While we mourn today, we also take comfort in the fact that your mission on earth have been fulfilled. We thank the Lord for your life and bid you farewell until we meet again. RIP in the arms of the angels, as they carry you to heaven.

May the Lord be with you and with your spirit. We miss you a lot..... Adieu uncle.

Rev Dr. Lawrence Martis was our assistant Parish priest in Urwa in the early 90s. A jovial and kind hearted priest who always had a good word for everyone around him. I remember when we were in the altar boys he encouraged us as youngsters to participate in inter parish competitions, specially in sports. He was lively and ensured everyone participated in Church activities. His passing is indeed a great loss for any parish. May his soul rest in peace.
