Kundapur, Oct 14: The family of Ashwini Shetty from Akkunje in Siddapur in the taluk has been receiving congratulatory messages in large measure of late. They also have a steady stream of visitors since their daughter registered an imprint at the international level athletics.

Aswini had played a lead role in ensuring a gold medal for the country in the 400 metres relay at the Commonwealth Games in New Delhi.

On Wednesday October 13, on behalf of Shankarnarayana police station, station house officer, Jayant, and other personnel visited Ashwini’s house, handed over a flower bouquet to her father, Chidanand Shetty, and praised the performance of the village girl. Jayant said that the country is proud of Ashwini, as it could better its previous records and earn a gold medal after a long time.
