Konkani Kutam Bahrain Celebrates Nativity Feast

Bahrain, Sep 18: Konkani Kutam Bahrain celebrated the Nativity Feast jointly with Karnataka Social Club at the Club premises on Thursday September 16.
The celebrations started at 8.00 pm. with the guest priest from Mangalore, Fr Franklin D’Souza blessing the new corn. In his address to the gathering he signified the need to promote Konkani language and culture. He emphasized the need to love, respect and nurture the Konkani language.
The children offered the flowers to Mother Mary with devotional hymn ‘Moriyek Hogalsiyam’. The convener of Konkani Kutam, Richard Moras welcomed the members, guests and dignitaries.
Fr Vincent D’Souza who is returning to Mangalore after nine years of service at Sacred Heart Church Bahrain was honoured by Henry Almeida during the occasion. Fr Feddy D’Souza, assistant parish priest of Sacred Heart Church was present.
The second part of the programme consisted of songs, dances and comedy skits. Sydney Correa, Richard Pais, Allan Pinto, Muriel Gomes, Laveena Dantis, Latha Cynthia D’souza, Adlyn Alva and Melissa Martis exhibited their talents in singing. Stany D’Souza, Sujay Pinto, George Menezes, Alwyn Alva and Alwyn Peres excelled in jokes. The two dances were presented by Jovita D’silva, Adlyn Alva and Shawn Alva. The music was provided by Austin Monteiro and Elston D’souza.
Walter Dantis compered the programme. Finally sumptuous dinner was served by Chefs Corner.
