The day’s programme commenced at 8.00 am.  Fr Anthony Michael Serrao, parish priest along with Fr Ronald Pinto, assistant parish priest and guest priest Fr Peter Paul Saldanha, professor in St Joseph’s Jeppu Seminary blessed the grains representing the new harvest which was carried by Gurkars of the wards.

After the children offered flowers to Mother Mary, her statue was taken in a procession which was led by Bondel Church Choir, parishioners, parish priest with other two priests and traditional Harry Brass Band.

Later special Holy Mass was held at the Church. Fr Peter Paul Saldnaha was the main celebrant.  Fr Antony Michael Serrao and Fr Ronald Pinto also joined the main celebrant.

Fr Saldanha in his sermon spoke on the roles played by women in family and society as a whole. He said on the occasion of Nativity of Blessed Virgin Mary we should make a point to adore the three mothers, Mother Mary, Mother Earth and Woman in forms of Mother, wife and daughter.

After the solemn Mass the people who visited the church greeted each other and later the blessed corn was distributed by Gurukars and parish priest.

This article brought a smile to my face and several memories. Thank you.

A request: Can the parish priest's e-mail contact information be uploaded somewhere? Making a phone call sometimes from places at different time zones is not very helpful.

First time since many years I got a chance to attend Monthi Saibinichem Festh in this coastal town of Mangalore. This is the first time I watched the children of St.Lawrence Church,Bondel honoring Our Lady,Bambina Mary by throwing flowers.Unlike Bangalore, I was pleased to see people and the children carrying away the sugarcane. Thanks to the Parish Priest of St.Lawrence Church Bondel and the organizers to make this Monthi Festh successful. Thanks to daijiworld.com for publishing this event and special thanks to Mr.Vicent D'Cunha for the wonderful photographs.I take this opportunity to wish all the parishioners including my sister in law and her family and and also the parish priest a very happy monthi saibinichem festh.
