Mangalore: St Anne's Friary Celebrates Monthi Fest with Vigour

Mangalore, Sep 8: The Feast of the Nativity of Our Lady (Monthi Fest) was celebrated with great vigour and devotion at the St Anne's Friary here on Wednesday September 8.

Despite pouring rains, nearly a hundred people attented the ceremony. The flower offering to Mother Mary began at 6.30 am followed by blessing of the corn and and the Mass.

Fr Anil D'Costa in his homily highlighted the importance of Mother Mary in one's life. Relating Mother Mary to the concept of motherhood, he said that every mother is an abode of love and life. Moreover, he emphasized on family values and said, "Let the love of infant Mary help us to inculcate the great values of love, unity and trust in our families as we share our meal with new corn."

Fr Peter Cyprian D'Souza, superior of the house wished everyone a happy feast and thanked them for their presence and co-operation. Sugarcane  was distributed to everyone who attended the mass.
