Mangalore, Sep 7: A grand procession from Attavar to Milagres Church Hall ushered in the Monti Fest celebrations at Our Lady of Miracles parish here on Tuesday September 7.

Retired Archbishop Ignatius Pinto blessed the procession of Infant Mary at Attavar. A tableau of Infant Mary along with the choir passed through the streets and concluded at Milagres Church Hall where the statue of Mary was lowered and ceremoniously installed at the altar.

The little children of Milagres parish, carrying flowers, and thousands of parishioners participated in the historical procession that has been held here for many decades. Paddy sheaves were also part of the tableau which was led by parish priest Fr William D’Mello, assistant parish priest Fr Thomas Roshan D’Souza, and parish council vice-president Alwyn Rosario.

People along the route of the procession viewed the event with reverence.

Retired Archbishop Pinto offered due honour to Infant Mary at the Milagres Church Hall, and was followed by little children who offered flowers to show their love for their Heavenly Mother.

Jaison Band from Bajpe accompanied the tableau evoking spiritual bliss among the faithful following the procession.

A short procession of Infant Mary will be held from Milagres Church Hall to the main church building on Wednesday September 8 at 8 am followed by Holy Mass to mark the feast of Nativity of Mary.

Monti Fest and the Monsoon aftermath evoke mixed feelings of great nostalgia of Mangalorean family Feast Celebration. There is nothing like this that can bring a family together. The only bond that can guarantee a healthy Christian life is family. Montifest is the best celebration to this effect. Beautiful photos and wonderful celebration. Thanks Daijiworld. Fr. Rudolf OCD (Madanthyar)

What a joy and satisfaction to see the parish, where I celebrated several Holy Masses during my holidays this summer, celebrate the feast of the Nativity of Mother Mary with so much devotion and love. Thanks to the dynamic and able leadership provided by the priests and lay leaders. God’s power is truly at work in the parish. Congratulations to all. I also take this chance to wish you all a joy-filled and blessings-filled Monti Fest & abundant blessings through the intercession of Mary, our Heavenly Mother. May this feast be special to you & your loved ones in every way. May it strengthen our bonds of unity, communion & fellowship. God bless all! Let’s all sing in one voice, Sokkod Sangatha Mellyan, Sokkod Laggin Soryan....
