Beltangady: Renovated St Ann Church blessed, inaugurated

Beltangady, Jan 27: The blessing and inauguration of renovated St Ann Church Nala-Mavinakatte was held on Wednesday, January 27 at 9.30 am. The program began with the blessing of the grotto and unveiling the plaque. The provincial, India Mumbai province Fr Richard Mathias SVD inaugurated the renovated church by cutting the ribbon. The solemn thanksgiving concelebrated Eucharist was officiated by Fr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangaluru and Fr Dr Lawrence Mukkuzhy, bishop of Beltangady.

The ceremony began with the blessing of Holy water and cleansing the church by sprinkling over the faithful and the church. Bishop of Beltangady preached the sermon and appreciated the hard work and the enthusiasm of the small parish community in building the magnificent place of worship and he advised the parishioners that as the church is beautiful the families belong to the church need to live a spiritual life filled with deep faith, considering the human being as the temple of the holy spirit.



The stage program began at 12 pm with the welcome dance by the Holy spirit sisters. The parish priest Fr Thomas Sequeira, Fredrick D’Costa, vice president, Cynthia Fernandes, secretary and Gregory D’Sa, association coordinator, welcomed the dignitaries to the dais. Fr Dr Peter Paul Saldanha, bishop of Mangalore was the president and Fr Dr Lawrence Mukkuzhy, bishop of Beltangady. Fr Joseph Cardoza, vicar forane, Beltangady. Pratap Simha Nayak, MLC, Karnataka, Vijay Sequeira, Beltangady, Amitha Kushalappa Gowda, taluk panchayat member, Kaniyur were the chief guests.

Fr Richard D’Almeida SVD, Fr Walter Mendonca SVD, were the guests of admiration. During the program, the donors who made contributions were felicitated. Engineer Ravi Ram Bhat, Ronald Quadros, well-wisher, Vijay Sequeira who was great support and the workers who helped in constructing the church were felicitated. Bishop of Mangalore in his presidential address admired the beauty of the church and invited the parishioners to live in harmony and unity. The program concluded with a delicious and tasty vegetarian meal.
