Mangaluru, Jan 23: After some miscreants dropped objectionable materials into offering boxes of ‘Daivasthanas’ in the city, police commissioner N Shashi Kumar on Saturday January 23, appealed to people to share information regarding untoward incidents in police commissionerate limits.

In a video message, he said, "It has come to our notice that recently, some objectionable items and writings were found in the offering boxes of religious centres. Cases have been registered on the same. We have decided to stop such untoward incidents and we will trace the accused in the reported cases. Irrespective of religious centres, authorities concerned should install CCTV cameras or deploy adequate security at religious centres as precautionary measures."

He also urged the public that if anyone has information regarding such untoward incidents, they can share it at the nearest police station or personally with him. "As police cannot be present everywhere, general public, taking the responsibility, should come forward to help the police. Hence, we can take a stringent action under the purview of law against such miscreants," he said.

People can contact the police control room at 9480802300, he informed.

"People can share information through WhatsApp or through text messages regarding such incidents,” said the police commissioner.

He further said, “Mangaluru is a beautiful and harmonious city. People from various districts, states and abroad live here. People come here for employment and education. Name of the city will be spoiled due to such acts of miscreants. Hence, such incidents should not occur. So people should share the information of such incidents.”

He also said that the identity of the informers will be kept confidential as it will be handled personally by him.

My great grandparents came to Mangalore 120+ years ago from Sagar. Never have we see such shameless actions taking place. That means the culprits are surely non-DK person. Bcoz our DK family values are stronger that personal ego.

If there is a dedicated email ID read by the Police Commissioner himself and not his subordinates ( many things are leaked to the opposite party), and the complainant identity is kept a secret , crimes can be solved and more important prevented. The complainant's name, address and telephone number should be replaced by a computer generated random number, before it is forwarded to the jurisdictional police station.

Your idea cannot be accepted . Reason , what if someone missues and does false acclaims on others. And it will be waste of time investigating for police department .
But what congrats and really overwhelmed by the developments and efforts by our new police commissioner N. Shashi Kumar sir.
Thank you and hopeing to take more actions on people who don't fear law of the land. And the ones who take law in their own hand

An excellent and most sensible suggestion for governance and administrative reform. It need not be perfect but it is a positive excellent suggestion.

No organisation can run well without ground level surprise visits and supervision by the top bosses. One former CP, in a another city, had installed a sort of post box outside his office and only he held the key to that box.

These reform measures must be written into the SOP of the organisation, so that they are followed as a rule. Otherwise just like "the phone-in session with the CP" , reformative measures will be neglected and stopped.
