Bantwal: Thieves enter church, search for money, damage sacred items

Daijiworld Media Network - Bantwal (SP)

Bantwal, Jan 23: It has come to light that the thieves who entered Parla church in Navoor village rummaged for money and damaged sacred items inside the church. The incident came to light in the morning on Saturday January 23 .

CCTV cameras have recorded the scene of the thieves entering the church. However, their identities could not be established immediately. The thieves entered the church by breaking open the door. They frantically searched for money. In all likelihood, they would have gone back empty handed and thoroughly disappointed as no cash was found inside the church.

The incident happened on the night of Friday January 22. The thieves have damaged holy items belonging to the church.

Bantwal rural police have visited the spot and undertaken scrutiny.

Ignoring and leaving aside all references to religions and communities, I wish to focus on the sacred, sacramental church vessels like chalice/ciborium on the altar and in the tabernacle which are golden and silver in colour. If there is a thieving angle in breaking into churches, let it be known that all that shines is not gold or silver. The items named above are basically of steel and are coated gold or silver. This applies also to the artistic candle-stands on the altar. They are kept shining by the priests and church staff vigorously cleaning them after sacramental use.
So, my sincere advice to the prospective thief is that all that is shining is not gold or silver and, thus, not to be tempted by the shining golden or silver colour of the Christian altar ritual vessels and vandalise the sacramental “hosts” and church property in frustration. They are basically steel items with gold or silver coating. I hope prospective thieves will read this, or their well-wishers will convey to them, this fact so that churches are left alone by thieves without having them to invest in CCTVs and night guards.
My humble request to all prospective respondents is not to jump on the communal /religious explosive bandwagon.
    God bless all.

Why only Christians are praised and asked to be forgiving and treating this as mere theft. Would other communities keep quiet when their place of worship is vandalised? Are other communities not required to be peace loving and forgiving? Movie, advertisement, songs, sounds, words and expressions are treated as insulting some religion or the other. But if it is to Christians, suddenly all dry sailap and pokle praise. God is holy, never gets desecrated by idiots, yhat is another thing. But please stop yhe hypocrisy. When mandir or masjid is attacked, use your own advise and be peaceful.

These people are entering and desecrating holy things just to invite curses on them and their families.... When devotees see such inhumane things happening to the religious houses, will definitely feel bad and curse ... Let them wait to receive the same . Disgusting... Shankaranna, we too say it's robbery only. Thieves are thieves whoever they are!!! Just to disrupt the peace among the communities...

No point in throwing holy water in front of pigs. Any purposeful act to desecrate the holy places should be severely punished.

Why wasn't the Tabernacle locked? Is it the negligence of the Priest? All churches should have strong doors

The church main door was locked, they broke it. Same way the tabernacle door is always locked. They broke it open. Not the fault of the priest

I appreciate the mature and wise thinking of the Catholics in Naravi village. They are wise enough to understand a robbery attempt as a robbery attempt and nothing else. They didn't cry a foul pay or did not point fingers at Hindus or hindu organizations.
    may your tribe increase.

I think they aren't theives. It's an act with pure intention. If they wanted only money, they wouldn't have damaged sacred things.

They were not afraid to spend so much of time therein despite knowing that this will be investigated in detail which lead them into trouble. Police action is the only act through which lesson be thought to those who dare think of doing such an act.

Please note we are a law abiding community, we will not protest, because we do not believe in a cult we believe the mighty God of Israel, who will fight our battles. Look around and see what our small community of 2 percent has given to this nation, we worn to serve our nation where ever we go not to destroy it and we do not crib and call ourselves minority's.

Lady !! Christians are not influenced by medieval, barbaric ideologies... We welcome CAA, as its laws grant Hindus, Sikhs, Buddhists and Christians, who are persecuted, their religious place of worship ravaged, women raped and forcibly converted n even killed, in Islamic nations !!! Our community is a peace loving, loyal, barely less then 2% minority community, who are dedicated,in the service of our motherland India !!

Why are you so much interested in CAA are you not an Indian.

All christians in India support CAA it is the only law which will allow christians who are in Pakistan, Afghanistan and Bangladesh persecuted by your ilk, to come to India and get away from these ungodly countries.

As for the Church theives give them the harshest of the punishment even if he is a Christian.

Finally you nailed it, Mr. Joe. How and why these people expected all minority communities to protest against CAA when the law is solely meant for the benefit of persecuted minorities from the three neighbouring countries. They should understand we are not that stupid to protest against each and every law enacted by the BJP or Modi Govt.
