Bengaluru, Jan 22: The state cabinet has given approval for a proposal to amend the law to make married daughters and other members of the family eligible to gain employment on compassionate grounds in case of death of government employees when in service, on compassionate grounds.

The cabinet which was chaired by chief minister, B S Yediyurappa on Thursday January 1, took this decision.

Previously the rules enabled daughters to get jobs on compassionate grounds. Now it is proposed to make married daughters and other family members eligible for the jobs. Law will be amended to formally make these changes enforceable, said law and parliamentary affairs minister, Basavaraj Bommai.

Bommai clarified that ministers Madhuswamy, MTB Nagaraj, Gopalayya and others had absented from the meeting with prior permission. He said that the chief minister has spoken to all the ministers and he has the capacity to solve the issues if any. He clarified that the minister, Madhuswamy, was busy with some other programme at Tumakuru and therefore could not attend the meeting.
