Bengaluru: High court refuses to hand over Vijayendra corruption case to CBI

Daijiworld Media Network - Bengaluru (SP)

Bengaluru, Jan 22: The state high court refused to hand over a case pertaining to allegation of corruption levelled against B Y Vijayendra, son of chief minister B S Yediyurappa and grandson Shashidhar Maradi. They have been accused of collecting money from a private construction company.

Adarsh R Aiyar of the Janadhikara Sangharsha Parishat had filed a public interest litigation in support of the said demand. It came before a division bench of the high court presided over by Chief Justice A S Oka, on Thursday January 21.

After hearing the arguments, the bench observed that the police have not so far registered any first information report in this case. It said that in any case, unless the first information report is registered, it cannot be entrusted to another probing agency as per law. It observed that CBI is not a police station and that it does not register first information reports. Therefore, the high court said that the request to order a CBI probe cannot be entertained.

The high court said that in cases where the police have not registered the first information reports, the petitioners have to seek relief as per law. It said that they cannot directly approach the high court for relief and its purpose will not be served. It also said that the litigation is based on wrong notions which cannot be taken up for investigation, before disposing off the plea.

The people should have known that prior to going to court, they should have evidence to convict these corrupt people, on mere allegations court will not convict any one. More important all politicians and people in powerful positions are above law no one has been convicted by courts until now.

Common public has lost total faith in the judiciary. Even the case goes to CBI nothing will happen, CBI is a caged parrot in the hands of ruling party at the center.

If it was about DKS, HDK or Siddu, the case would have been already half-way through investigation by the time the public gets to know about it.
