Udupi: Five festival masses offered on third day of Attur annual feast

Udupi, Jan 20: The annual festival celebrations at Attur St Lawrence’s pilgrim centre began on January 18. Five festival masses were offered on Wednesday, the third day of the festivities. Novena prayers, blessings of the relics of the saint and special prayers for the sick were held. Devotees had arrived to light candles and offer prayers to the miracle statue of St Lawrence.

Kanajar priest Fr Alexander Louis, Kuppepadav priest Fr Gratian Alvares, Udupi priest Fr Ashwin Aranha, Perampalli priest Fr Anil D’ Souza and Pakshikere priest Fr Melwin Noronha celebrated the first masses. Several priests from Mangaluru and Udupi diocese took part in the masses.

Masses will also be held on Thursday, fourth day of the festival at 8 am, 10 am, 12 pm, 3 pm and 5 pm stated Fr Chetan, public relations officer, Udupi diocese.
