Kundapur, Jan 16: Yakshagana artiste Yakshadhruva Patla Sathish Shetty was felicitated for his performance by Pavanje mela held at Maranakatte under the leadership of Yakshasankranti.

Byndoor MLA B M Sukumar Shetty in his felicitations said that Patla Sathish Shetty is the inspiration in Yakshagana art of undivided Dakshina Kannada district. His fans gather due to the magnetism in his unique voice, he opined. Entrepreneur Gurmi Suresh and entrepreneur Maranakatte Krishnamurthy Manjaru addressing the gathering conveyed their best wishes to Patla Sathish Shetty.

Patla Sathish Shetty responding to the honour said that words do not come out in between the love of his fans. Goodwill such as this is the wealth for artistes. Let other Yakshangana artistes also receive your appreciation. Let us grow the art, he said.

Dr Rajesh Bayari of Chitrakoota Kali Aloor, Ramachandra Maranakatte, Pavanje temple managing trustee Shashindra Shetty, chartered accountant Rajesh Shetty Nandroli, journalist Vasanth Giliar and others were present.

Meanwhile, Patla Sathish Shetty was honoured by Hoisala cultural trust. Nagaraja Shetty Naikambli welcomed the gathering and rendered the vote of thanks. Yakshgana plays Gajendra Moksha, Manishada and Rati Kalyana were staged later.
