Mangaluru: Car driver from Bengaluru drowns in sea at Ullal

Mangaluru, Jan 16: A car driver who had brought a Bengaluru-based family to Summer Sands beach in Ullal here drowned near the beach on Friday January 15.

The victim has been identified as Nagaraj (34) from Bengaluru. He had arrived at Ullal from Bengaluru with a family on Thursday. On Friday, Nagaraj was playing with waves when he was dragged into the sea by a huge wave. Even though the local life guards who heard his shouts rushed to his rescue, it was too late.

Normally lifeguards and local fishermen rescue those facing danger at Mogaveerapatna (Ullal) beach, but the said tragedy happened about 200 metres away. By the time the people reached there, Nagaraj had already drowned.

The tourists who had come here with Nagaraj said that he was the only breadwinner of his family. A case relating to this unnatural death was filed at Ullal police station.
