Bantwal: 55-year-old cook kills self by jumping into pond

Bantwal, Dec 11: An assistant cook of a hostel of an educational institute killed himself by jumping into a pond.

Narayana Patali (55), a resident of Bedradka in the district of Kasargod in Kerala, is the deceased. He was working as assistant cook in the hostel of Alike Satyasai Loka Seva Kendra.

Narayana went missing late night on Thursday December 10. When searched, his footwear was found near the pond of the educational institute.

The water in the pond was more than 22 feet in depth. A team of expert divers led by Muralidhar and Hyderali Meginapete of Friends Vittal organization fished out the mortal remains of the deceased after an hour-long operation.

As per the case registered at Vittal police station, the deceased committed suicide out of depression as he was suffering from epilepsy for the past 25 years.
